    Double Valve Recommendation and Question

I never heard that, but would be interested in hearing other people'say experiences, since I am scheduled to get my aortic and mitral valves both replaced with mechanical ones in three weeks.

    Waiting

The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas tend to fly by quickly, which makes me nervous with having surgery to have double valve replacement slated for Dec. 29. Now it's getting more real. How did everyone else get through this time?

    sternum wires

I had sternum wires removed more that 20 years after OHS. Two wires worked their way to the surface, poking their way through the scar. I had a total scar revision. I stayed one night in the hospital and had a lot of pain for the first 24 hours or so, but survived.

I did fairly well for 40 years, but developed severe symptoms more recently and am oxygen dependent. Am waiting to hear about the next step...

My son had a hole in his heart repaired as a child. What a huge difference those few decades made. Having surgery as a child in the 1970s was a...

I apparently quoted the wrong thing and don't want to try again and repeat the error. I was trying to respond to Pellicle's post. Pickaback 2

Pell, We have somewhat similar histories. I had first open heart surgery at age 10 and am 50 now. Now I am waiting to be scheduled to have 2 valves replaced. The difference is this will be my second OHS. You sound like you have gone through a lot. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I will be having OHS 40 years after my first in the coming months. For anyone who has had multiple OHS, what advances did you experiences over time? Thanks.
