    Aortic-root aneurysm

Yesterday was my second appointment with Cardiovascular Surgeon Dr. Niloo Edwards, Chief of Cardiac and Vascular Services at Albany's St. Peter's Hospital. We reviewed my recent CT scan, which showed my aortic-root aneurysm to be smaller than in the previous scan! No, they don't shrink...but Dr...

    Aortic-root aneurysm

Wow, Dan Zulu, that's great! My most recent CT scan (without contrast due to lowering kidney numbers) was 4.4 cm, as opposed to the 4.7 cm last August...also without contrast. So both the evaluations were "suboptimal." I have an appointment Thursday with the local surgeon I'm seeing; I suspect...

    Aortic-root aneurysm

I appreciate everyone's input. I'll be interested in learning the results of yesterday's CT scan. The period during which there was a fair-size increase in the size of my aneurysm included two trips to Jacksonville from Albany. Then when we were in Florida at the end of January, I realized that...

    Post-Surgery Anxiety

Oh, dear -- you mean I will likely have more anxiety after surgery than I do now? Oy! Actually, I have heard that anxiety and depression aren't unusual following open-heart surgery, and understanding the possibilities is, for me, helpful. Thanks for starting this discussion!

    Aortic-root aneurysm

Thanks for your input. Where do you live relative to Rochester, MN? My anxiety-producing issue is traveling for surgery. Very few locations are a nonstop flight from Albany, NY, and I can't imagine having layovers after heart surgery! I'm sure people do it, but they must be more laid back than I...

    Aortic-root aneurysm

Thanks for those links. I believe I've seen those before...but, to be honest, I'm a bit overwhelmed with links right now, so I hadn't gone back to them...which I'm doing now. I also think this is rather interesting...

    Aortic-root aneurysm

Finally solved the tag-line and email-notification issues. My aortic valve is trileaflet. I have confidence in the surgeon I've seen so far (but will get second opinion[s]). He is the Chief of Cardiac and Vascular Services at St. Peter's Hospital here in Albany. The question is whether the...

    Aortic-root aneurysm

Tag line: that extra text that you see at the bottom of some messages (e.g., "At age 51 diagnosed..." above). Concern about a week or so following the procedure: If I do travel a distance for the surgery, I will have a very long ride home. There's no nonstop flight, and I think I'd be better...

    Aortic-root aneurysm

How do I include a tag line? I thought I set it up...but nothing's happening! Judy

    Aortic-root aneurysm

Okay. I've subscribed. Thanks for that advice. :-) I had a CT scan six months ago, and that showed a 4.7-cm aneurysm, which was consistent with the echo. But I'm having another one Wednesday, so we'll see what that tells us. Soon I'll be glowing in the dark. :-( Again...Cleveland Clinic (and...

    Aortic-root aneurysm

    1. Is there a way to be notified of replies? 2. As for the aortic aneurysm -- about ten years ago I asked my internist to order an echocardiogram to rule out a particular cause of migraine. After he received the results, he called me and said that he had good news and bad news: I didn't have...
