    Coaguchek XS Plus -- Kaput

Glad for your sake I was able to return your machine, but do wish it had worked for me! THANKS AGAIN. What'd you do with the icicles? Did your wife let you get away with hanging them in the windows instead of getting a tree? 😉 Linda

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Hi All, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Sorry I've been off so long. Now that I'm back up and functioning spare time for hanging on the site dropped, especially as the holidays approached. I just saw NewMitrals comment, I must have mis typed or mis read some of my figures. I'm not sure where I got the numbers...

    The Traveling Bruise

I knew there would be bruising issues with being on coumadine, but I hadn't expected THIS! A week ago on Tues., I banged my shin on the car door. I didn't think I had hit it hard, but it hurt like all get out. It was sore during the week, but nothing outstanding. I was amazed that the bruising...

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Hi Guys, I've just returned from a long day trip so don't have much energy to carefully analyze your posts but wanted to acknowledge them. I think before I fully answer them, let me get all my results from my ACC clinic so I'm dealing with real numbers and not remembered ones. BUT I can do a...

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Hi Guys, Thanks Protimenow for setting the record straight in that the POCs are reading higher than the labs not lower, but both your points about using the data to at least determine that I'm not low is possibly sound. I'm not sure my clinic would go for it well enough to take responsibility...

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Ok, time for another update. Protimenow and i have been in contact and I've gotten one of his CoagSense machines to test out on. So far, results are still puzzling. Monday I did three INR tests, all within an hour or so of each other. Lab Vein draw came in at 3.2. CoaguCheck showed 4.6 and...

Surgery Date is set, now it's decision time!

I just got a mechanical (OnX) valve in the pulmonary position in May. Just about at the 5month point. I still hear the clicking quite clearly when in bed or if it's very quiet in the car. But usually if there's ANY ambient noise, I don't hear the clicking. Occasionally I'll wake up in the night...

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Thanks guys. My plan had been to remove the email as soon as I'd gotten something from ProTimenow to know that he's seen it. I'll try the domain name route and assume ProtimeNow has seen mine as well. I've contacted my insurance company to see why the denial but was told they have 24-48 hours to...

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Protimenow, I tried your suggestion in your second email but maybe I missed an obvious clue, but the domain name hint didn't work. Probably barely internet savvy me missed something. LOL I'm going to go out on a limb here out of desperation and post my email here since the PM system isn't...

Are tiny red dots on my legs due to warfarin?????

Possibly, possibly not but unfortunately not something you can just stop taking to see if they go away. 😔 are you any other meds that you could be reacting to? Have you tried taking, assuming you can, Benadryl to see if they go away with that? I hope they're not itching, that'd be terrible! Linda

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Protimenow, I just sent you a PM but I've no idea if it came through. It's not showing up in my sent box. If you didn't get it, let me know via this thread and I'll try a different way. I may have to just go out on a limb and post my email address up publicly. But I would like to get in direct...

    POC not reading INRs correctly

ARGHHH... That probably gives a hint where I'm going with this post. Talked late yesterday afternoon with the folks at the CoagSense monitoring company. I got tired of waiting to hear from them. It turns out, my insurance denied the request for coverage AND NO ONE at the company bothered to...

what's the longest you can be without Coumadin?

Timmy, ice packs, heat, time and patience. Bruises do no harm and everyone gets one occasionally. If someone comments on your bruising, just tell them you're on coumadin or have fun with it and say you and your wife (or significant other) had a bit too much more fun a couple nights ago and...

Are tiny red dots on my legs due to warfarin?????

How's the tiny red dots? Have they gone away? Figured out what's causing it? Hope they're better! Linda

    INR Target

First, CONGRATS on making it to this side of the OHS journey. Take heart (ha, ha) and don't get discouraged if recovery takes longer than you think it should. It will get better! I noticed feeling better seemed to come in leaps. I'd feel like I was at one level of pain forever and then suddenly...

    Home testing questions

That's my plan to whenever I find a machine that works for me. Updated the other thread the other day about waiting to get set up to see if CoagSense works for me. I don't want to buy it until I know it will work. But if it works, I'm going to buy my own. I think the whole process of test, call...

    Right thoracotomy

Mine was full sternal incision, but my "incision" pain, the muscles not the actual incision, lasted almost 5 months. Yep, just recently finally eased off. Still some bone pain when settling in to sleep at night. It kept feeling like someone was trying to pull my chest out through my back with...

    POC not reading INRs correctly

Update, not much to report. POCs STILL not working. My faithful lab guy blew the first vein today and had to stick me twice. In 5 months of testing weekly, it's only the second time he had to stick me twice. Most the other techs took at least two sticks to get my blood. Insurance has said yes to...

    Home testing questions

How are you doing Slipkd? Haven't heard from you in a while. Did you finally get everything worked out and figure out who to trust with your care? Just thinking about you and hope you're doing well! ..... On a separate note, you and I were exchanging notes on a different thread, which I think is...

    Some Questions for the Ladies

If you're still in the hospital or will be, ask for a surgical bra (or a few, so you can take them home and rotate them out to clean). The ones at CLeveland Clinic velcroed down the front and the tops of straps. Not sexy but gave good support that could be changed as swelling went down. I wore...
