Hi Johnny, I would be grateful if you could please share you thoughts and experience with your (bicuspid aortic valve) repair? Would you do it again if you ahd the chance? Or would you have done straight for a replacement?
Thanks for the links. Am now even more convinced that I want a repair if that option is offered to me - I will hopefully find out in the next few weeks.
I couldn't agree more. Now I'm wondering if wouldn't be brilliant if we would start to put together a database based on this sample to start with - just the people on this forum to start with - and see where that takes us?
Am just across the waters from you and expect to have my AVR (repair or replacement) surgery soon - end June, beginning July. Best wishes, it's going to be fine. What kind of AVR are you expecting to have?
Thanks for your input pellicle. Is becoming stenotic and calcification - as far as you know- a typical risk of repaired valves, or was this a condition you already had prior to your first repair?
Clay, I am 40 and my sugeon has tentatively recommended an aortic repair as a first option (which he may or not confirm next week after he's seen my CT scan) . I see you you had an aortic repair at age 10 that lasted quite long - am I right? I would be grateful if you could share your...

Hi, I too have just undergone TEE and a CT scan last week (do not know the results yet) and I will only will be told next week about what the actual cause is of my severe aortic regurgitation and how they want to fix it. The doctors had already mentioned however that a repair would be the first...
Hi, hats off to you (as to so many others on this forum) for your active lifestyle after three OHS and your positive energy - gives me a lot of hope and optimism. Cheers mate.
Pellicle, thanks for these valuable insights, which were new to me. Have just seen the Mayo presentation. Will also try to find the original sources. Opens up new lines of thought.
Could you please share your experience with your mechanical valve? In what way has your life changed since you got...
Thanks for your post, Bryan- this reinforces my current line of thought. At age 40, about to do my first surgery in a month I too like you am more inclined towards tissue, even knowing that surgery 15-20 years down the line will be inevitable. An expert I spoke to (nvolved in cutting-edge...
