    Where things stand...

I can relate to so much of what you've said Helen. First time I sneezed after surgery, I drew a crowd :eek2: Glad to know you're home and doing well - keep up the good work! Anya

    Metoprolol

Chaconne and JKM7 I'll be discussing this dosage with my GP on 12th June as it does seem very high (compared with what others on the forum are taking). Although having said that, I was visiting a friend's family last night and his father (in his 80's) is on 150 mg/day, so I guess there are...

6 Weeks Post-Op - still have AFib and high heart rate.

Hi Michele, Thank you for your comments, much appreciated. I sorta got the results of the Holter when I called the Cardio's office to enquire about the buzzing sensations and when, on one occasion, my left arm started to tingle. His secretary read his review notes where he had said "no further...

    Metoprolol

When I was discharged from the hospital 6 weeks ago, I was on 50 mg/day to regulate my heart beat. My first Cardiologist appt. 4 weeks later resulted in an increase to 100 mg/day, then 200 mg/day as neither dose lowered my BPM. Even now, the 200 mg/day (100 mg x 2 daily) still hasn't regulated...

6 Weeks Post-Op - still have AFib and high heart rate.

Its been interesting and terrifying. I ended up having 2 leaking valves repaired, a hole in my heart fixed and an attempt to regulate my AFib by using the Maze procedure. The latter has unfortunately been unsuccessful and I still have AFib. My cardiologist has me on 200 mg/day Metoprolol in an...

    Surgery April 16th

Best of luck on 16th Catherine. I'm also having my surgery on 16th after being bumped from my original date back in March. Right now my stress levels are low, but prior to March, I was just like you - very apprehensive and filled with terror at times. Larry is right, when you feel stressed take...

Aww, so cute Larry :smile2: To anyone reading this old thread my surgery was cancelled at the last minute. I'm now rescheduled for April 16th. Just want to get it done and over with!

CryoMaze for AFib - anyone had this done?

Hello everyone, I'm scheduled for OHS on 24th March to repair my mitral valve and at the same time will be having the cryomaze procedure for AFib. Just wondering if anyone has had this procedure and how successful it's been? Thanks!

Recommend a post-surgical bra and other clothing questions

Hello ChicagoMom, I haven't had my own surgery yet, so congrats on yours - hope recovery is going well. On one site I checked out recently they recommend: I think I'll be getting one of those and will probably wear loose pants (like sweats) and something that buttons up the front.

24th March is OHS date - finally!

Ann I'm much like you and I predict I'll be really furious with myself more often than not! I've never been incapicitated for more than a few days in my life, so I'm not relishing the idea of not being able to do simple things for any length of time. I've led a very sedindary life (desk job to...

    3-Day Post-Op: First Thoughts

Mark thanks for sharing your early experiences post-op. I'm really encouraged by your progress as I'm in the waiting room for another few weeks. I just hope I'll be as lucid as you are so soon after surgery! Wishing you a full speedy uneventful recovery. Anya

24th March is OHS date - finally!

Thanks everyone for your good wishes/replies. Yes Ann I did mention that I lived alone to the surgeon and at the time had asked him if I could be transferred to a rehab clinic for a few extra days post-surgery. Of course the secretary knew nothing of this, nor if he had made any arrangements...

24th March is OHS date - finally!

Well after my earlier rant thread I finally got the call from my now new BFF, my surgeon's secretary, scheduling my surgery for 24 March. On one hand I'm relieved, after 2 + months of hearing nothing, to finally getting a date. On the other hand, I'm anxious now that I finally have a date :eek2...

March 5, 2014 is going to be my extra birthday!

Best of luck to you Mrs Bray. The next few days until your surgery will probably fly by, what with all that pre-mom/pre-housekeeper cleaning you're doing:D. Sounds like you've got a great support system in place post-op and do keep us up to date on your progress. I'm going on the cutting board a...
