    AVR Surgery 1/17 - Home on 1/21

Thanks for your replies everyone...Means a lot! While I don't have vivid dreams on the Metoprolol, I do feel it makes me tired. Overall, I feel very lucky to be here - and amazed. :)

    AVR Surgery 1/17 - Home on 1/21

HI all; Some of you may remember me freaking out on this site when I was diagnosed just a little over 5 years ago. :) I had my surgery at Sacred Heart in Spokane and my experience there was excellent despite some early hallucinations on Oxycodone. I am 49 years old and chose a tissue valve...

    Just checking in...

Hi all...I'm reading such good stuff today all over the site. Thanks to you all for being so giving on here. Even tough I'm likely years away from symptoms/surgery, reading your experiences encourages me to keep active and keep getting healthier. Thanks again...and keep up the good work...

What medical issues to get fixed before the surgery

Regarding dental issues BEFORE surgery...Apparently new guidelines say, for most, that antibiotics are NOT required for dental work. At least that's what two cardiologists have told me. From what I understand, this is a pretty recent change...

Southern Oregon BAV Noob - PROBABLY

Thanks for responding! Things are much better in the New Year. While a much lower form of anxiety comes and goes, I now generally feel lucky that they found my problematic heart valve before I had to find out about it the hard way. I've already dropped weight and am walking every day...and...

    Why so many problems?

So far, my cardio doc says everything else with my heart looks good...just the Aortic valve that's the problem for now...and my surgery is likely several years away. I think everyone, depending on what they have to deal with, handles these things differently. I draw inspiration from those...

    Upper Back and Chest

Pretty sure this is still my anxiety, but I'm just throwing it out there...I've had a sore upper back and some very minor chest pains (both sides of chest). My anxiety since my diagnosis and previous posts has gone down quite a bit but still there. My Cardio did say I still have a good heart...

    Honest Opinions?

Well, you can count on me to keep coming back here and bugging you folks pre/post surgery - for the rest of my life. Nothing worse than feeling all alone with something you have yet to fully understand. Some say the internet is cold and emotionless. This site, to me, refutes that claim...

Southern Oregon BAV Noob - PROBABLY

Thanks for all the responses....I'm working on my bringing my anxiety level down. Just trying to "let it go"...because I won't have another echo for about 9 months. Acceptance is a big one. I am in counseling. Part of this is just about who I am, I guess. I've always been a bit of a...

Southern Oregon BAV Noob - PROBABLY

Has anyone heard about or had surgery done at Rogue Valley Hospital? I hear they are very good...Just wanted to know if it would be a good idea to have my surgery (whenever it ends up being) there...or somewhere else? Should I seek out a surgeon now, while still at the moderate stage?

    More Noobie Questions

So, I now realize I must get my own copy of my Echocardio. I shall do so this week. I am also waiting to talk to my Cardiologist. My first appointment EVER with a cardiologist was on the 16th of this month. And I was still in denial, thinking he would say the techs screwed up the echo...

Southern Oregon BAV Noob - PROBABLY

Y'know...I feel so many different things right now. From being grateful for my family, and for you people on here, to big time anger that this has become something for me to deal with. Frankly, my BAV diagnosis comes at a low point in my and my family's lives. We live in a small town on the...

Southern Oregon BAV Noob - PROBABLY

Question: Like Steve said, I have Aortic Stenosis. I'm still waiting for my cardiologist to call me back (of course I would get diagnosed during the Holidays...which means everyone is busy)...If I'm at 3.4 (gotta get a copy of my echo results) and they're waiting for me to hit "5" to have...

Southern Oregon BAV Noob - PROBABLY

Hi Bina... I was told (remembering correctly, I hope) that the 3.4 is the speed at which blood is traveling thru the aortic valve...? Feel like there is so much I don't know... Thank you.

Southern Oregon BAV Noob - PROBABLY

Hi Everyone... I've been lurking on the forums for a few days...here's my story: I'm 43 years old...will turn 44 in early January. Went in for a physical in October...Doc heard a loud murmur. Had the Echo and was diagnosed with Moderate Aortic Stenosis. They are pretty sure it's a bicuspid...
