    Bleeding cuticles????

Still seeping. No change. Neosporin seems to do nothing. Took a course of antibiotic given by pcp. No change. I'm baffled.

    Bleeding cuticles????

Thanks guys for comments. My PCP looked totally baffled and said put Neosporin on them. Now that you mention it Kristy, the thumb of the right hand is not involved. Just the other four fingers. I see no change, I thought it would subside over time. Sigh....... not a big thing.. but sure...

    Bleeding cuticles????

Really?? I have been on Coumadin for 33 years, yes... since 1978. This is a new one on me. About 2.5 weeks ago, I took an orange stick to my cuticles and pushed them back. No big deal. My left hand is unscathed, the right hand cuticles continue to ooze. I am right handed so I can only assume...

Prayers for our longtime member, Mindy..!!

Janiegirl!!! I made it on. It has be a long long time, and I'm not sure how many of the old crew join in these days. I just checked out "in loving memory" and saw more than I would have liked. Granbonnie and Gina inparticular. The days are long and hot here on the coast. Are you getting any...

Howdy! Looking for Opinions on 2nd Opinions

Another Texan checking in Another Texan checking in Hi Rhena and love your photo! Makes me want to go hill country. I live on the gulf coast, a 4.5 hour drive to Houston. I had my last surgery in Houston at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in association with the Texas Heart Institute. My close...

    Long Term Complications

Clicker you raise questions that everyone of us has asked (me thinks) at one time or another. Thank goodness I never spent a good deal of time on it. I have had 4 valve surgeries, the first being in 1960. They told my folks I wouldn't live to 15, so "enjoy her while she is here". HA I'm 53 next...

    Finally changed my mind!

Gail..... I think you are over the top, and on your way to a speedier recovery!! I have mechanical valves, thank goodness. It is a personal decision as stated by others, but trust me when I say with repeat surgeries come repeat complications. Hang in there, praying you will be right as rain soon.

    3.0

4mg sounds good to me 4mg sounds good to me I can't imagine.... that is really jumping to some kinda conclusion, making an adjustment when you are at 3.0 The range IS 2.5 to 3.5 I keep mine at 3.5 to 4... with Doc permission. I tolerate it well, and have been there for years. 31 years on...

What's your opinion on a second opinion? :-)

Pregnancy with a mechanical valve story

Kristen... amazing how strangers can impact each others lives just by sharing. I am 53 and way past child bearing age, but was told as a CHILD that I could never have children. Honestly, I just never considered it a possibility and went on with my rather wreckless and indifferent life. Of...

    Med Alert Bracelet

Kaj... thanks that is a great website, I marked it to go back and take a good look. I would like a necklace so I don't "always" have to wear the bracelet. A word of caution; I had mine made in 1978 and it is really beautiful. I' have been taken in twice by ambulance, and not one person noticed...

When did you have your aortic valve replacement?

I'm not really a new member.... I haven't been on for about 2 years, and somehow got.. um.. misplaced. I'm an oldie actually.. Having had 4xOHS, I can say that my doctors were great every time about recommending I go in before I was even moderately symptomatic. The better shape/condition you...

Opinions on tissue vs mechanical aortic valves

Ross, I couldn't agree with you more. I well know what repeat surgeries do and none of it is good. You will eventually suffer some collateral damage, it happens and any surgeon worth their salt will tell you that. I have been on Coumadin now for 31 years. I don't feel as though I have missed...

    Tissue Valve degeneration

...the insufficiency/regurgitation is the confounding aspect of this, given the experience my surgeon's had with the medtronic valve. anyway, i'll post more to this thread as I find out more...looks like I'll be in for number 4 here in the not too distant future. My ticker is starting to look...

    Surgeon In Kansas City

Wow, my home away from home, St. Lukes in KCMO.!! I had my first surgery there in 1960, my second in 1970 and my third in 1978. My surgeon then was a Dr. William Reed, but no doubt he is retired by now. (I feel old at 53.) I don't know of a surgeon, but I will put out a few feelers to friends...
