    Crossfit!

Good stuff. While far from an avid Crossfitter, I am good friends with a few guys who are. I do enjoy some of the vacation, body weight only workouts once or twice a week. Most are variations of pushups, situps, and squats. My two favorites are to do 100 pushups, then 100 situps, then 100...

    Warrior Dash?

I'm really struggling with trying to improve my swimming, which may limit the 2010 triathlon plans. I will likely stick with just a few Sprint (short) triathlons. Also planning some half marathons and potentially a full for the fall. Still running plenty, but in these winter months I am...

    Two Year Anniversary Today

Two years ago today. Really doesn't seem that long ago. I remember people telling me beforehand that this would be good for me, that I would emerge a better person, etc. You know, in the end, they were right. Life is good. Good luck to all of you guys out there.

How old were you when you had your AVR?

I had just turned 34. Mechanical valve (On-X) to hopefully avoid going through the process of replacement again. Almost two years ago now. Apart from some great perspective gained and some good stories, it doesnt really impact my day to day life at all.

    Sprint Triathlon Success!

Thanks again to all of you guys. Looking to get an olympic length race on the calendar for the spring. Anyone have any comments on the St. Anthony's triathlon in St. Petersburg, FL in April or the Turtle Crawl triathlon on Jekyll Island in May? Curious if any of you guys have done either one...

    Marathon #54

Congratulations. That is really amazing. I cant imagine having completed 54. Can you name your favorite or most memorable? I have run a grand total of 3, and none in 10 years (last was New York '99), although in the last few days I have started looking at ING Atlanta in March.... We will...

    Sprint Triathlon Success!

Thanks! Yes, this was the 4th year I believe for this event at Lake Lanier. It is already up to perhaps 800 - 1000 people, and was well run and a lot of fun. 400yd swim, 13 miles on the bike, and then a 5K run. Check it out: http://www.gamultisports.com/emeraldpointe2006.htm I believe...

    Sprint Triathlon Success!

Hey Thanks. I actually loved it and am now planning my next one. Would like to do a few sprints, move to Olympic distance, and then consider half ironman (maybe for 2011). Gotta work on swimming big time though. Need some serious adult lessons.

    Sprint Triathlon Success!

Successfully completed the Lake Lanier Sprint Triathlon yesterday, just less than two years after my replacement surgery. Great success.

    1st run post op

Bugchucker, congrats on getting out for a run. It will get much better. I saw your age (I am 35) and wanted to comment. I check in on the Active Lifestyles forum from time to time. I am about a year and a half past AVR surgery (On-x mechanical), and was an active but fairly pedestrian runner...

    Turkey Trots

Thanks to all of you guys for the positive words and suggestions. Atlanta half marathon Thanksgiving morning went very well and was my first longer race post-op (did some 10K's over the summer). A beautiful morning without incident. Jogged pretty slowly and finished around 2:25, really wanted...

    Turkey Trots

Running the Atlanta half marathon Thanksgiving morning. Less than one year (11 months) after having my aortic valve replaced with an On-X mechanical valve. Really looking forward to it! This is my first posting - Lots of good stuff on this site.
