    Back to work

Back to work on 5/6, 4 weeks post op. I think that is amazing. Personally, I felt like going back last week but Doc says no go. Started riding my bike yesterday, tired of walking sticking to a slow mile still. I will begin the cardiac rehab next week with the excercise and diet regime, looks...

    My recovery efforts

I agree, UAB is not the place to be if you are trying to rest. About the time you fall asleep they wake you up to take vitals....food? Its a good thing you dont remember, the food there is not very appealing. My family kept me nurished with subway burger king and anything else they could find!

    right foot painful to touch

When I woke up in CCU my foot was asleep and stayed that way for two days. Its awake now but I have swelling in the ankle and pain in the calf that is cutting in to my rehab. Docs say it post surgery normal, scans and ultrasounds show no clotting, guess we will see.

    TGA (amnesia for short)

Has anyone sufferded from Transient Global Amnesia post op? Well, I have. Does not hurt at all and apparently makes you ten feet tall and bullet proof, Wife swore I hit the tequlia. My research shows it is common post trauma, and strikes those who suffer from migraines (me) more often...

    Newby looking for info.

Joe... Welcome! I am 44 yo male and had an anyuresm repaired and a BAV replaced. I opted for a repair in plan A but the aorta and the valve were much worse than depicted on any tests. I now have a medtronic freestlye valve (and a newfound addiction to pork rinds). I was completely asymptomatic...

Well folks, its done and the healing has begun. Surgery was postponed until April 8 but all went well, got back home yesterday, and I just came in from a thirty minute walk. I am weening myself off the pain meds, but they sure come in handy at times. For all those who may read this and are...

Surgery is coming- know any good surgeons in the Atlanta, GA region?

Dr Kirklin. Choosing UAB......I guess a comfort level with the Dr after meeting with him and his explanation of the procedure, much investigation, gut feeling, closest facility to my home, patient referral (he did a co-worker OHS and valve surgery), Cardio Doc referral, I guess that would kind...

Bentall's Procedure vs. Valve Sparing (David Procedure)

Reddog I am in your same shoes, but I have 5.6 anuerism (been that way since at least the late 80's) but now fits the "criteria" for surgery. My Doc is going to try and repair the valve, he thinks its a good option and if he cant, he will put in an biological valve, with a mechanical valve being...

    The Decision

Guess everyone is different in their own way, BAV affects 1-2% of the population so I guess there is a percentage of that number that is unique, my doctor always said I wasnt wired right...maybe its true!
