    Supra Annular Valves

I have a Top Hat valve and being able to place a larger valve above was one of the reasons the surgeon felt that was the correct valve for me.

Stanford Craig Miller vs Kaiser SFO Pompili & vicken Diff opinions

Even if his surgeries go longer than others, could that not be a good thing? Perhaps he's more diligent and pays more attention to detail. Who knows? But he certain has more experience and has seen just about everything. That's of value.

Stanford Craig Miller vs Kaiser SFO Pompili & vicken Diff opinions

Dr. Miller did my surgery in 2009. i would have him do another if I needed one. Bill B (another VR member and Miller alumni) and I went to see Dr. Miller in November. Of course he looked older than in 2009, who doesn't? But he had just completed a 13 hour surgery the night before yet when...

Visiting your ICU or rehab facility

My wife and I were just on a 3 week vacation to visit our daughter and her husband in Palm Springs. We took a few days to drive up to SFO and meet with Bill B and Bill and I also met with Dr. Craig Miller at his office at Stanford. Dr. Miller did both our surgeries back in 2009. It was great...

Warfarin Home Monitoring Companies accepting Ambetter or Kaiser in USA

I have Kaiser and do home monitoring. I take my INR and call a Kaiser 1 800 number to report my results. When you call the hotline ask if you need more testing strips. If you do they send you some. I call my local regions AMS (anticoagulation management service) if I need more lancets...

    8 years ago today

I had my surgery at Stanford 8 years ago. A bit of a rough ride for awhile but got out of the hospital after 2 months. Aside from 3 surgeries for a sternal infection and last year's brain bleed, things are going well now. Ejection fraction not what I'd like, but what are you going to do?

    The old members

I first registered in 2001 right before me first OHS. I had to re-register again a few years later before my second in 2009. I've keep coming back now and and reading posts, but there is only so many times a person can type "this happened to me"...... On a positive note, we are planning a...

    Dr. Ed Verrier

Dr Verrier did my first surgery in 2002. Not a mini, just a standard OHS. I thought he was great. For my second OHS in 2009, I chatted with the father in law of of my niece, who is a cardiologist about surgeons. He said (at the time) that Verrier was teaching more than operating and that he...

    Softball to the head

No lingering effects that I know of. My wife may disagree. :) I felt fine the whole time, except for the persistent headache. I called my boss and ask if i could work from the hospital (IT, can work remotely), but he declined and told me to just get better. The headaches went away a...

    Softball to the head

I would suggest going to see the doctor should you start to experience headaches. One day, I woke up with a headache. It kind of never went away, though controlled well enough with Tylenol. Went to my family doc, neurologist and even dentist. It wasn't until my 2nd CT scan a couple of weeks...
