I get those palpitations too. As heart patients, I guess we are super aware of any little flutter. Even more so when you can hear the odd beats w/ a mechanical. :)

I bet they will let you take something as long as you have someone to drive you home. I was terrified of the cath too, but it was super easy. The day of the surgery, I wanted to run out of the hospital! They will give you some "happy juice" before they wheel you away for surgery. They did for me...
