Another setback - back in the hospital

Hello~Sorry you are still having issues that are landing you back in the hospital. It is not uncommon for fluid to accumulate around the heart after surgery if that is any consolidation :( . Maybe the fluid was causing your other issues...it just took awhile for enough to accumulate for you to...

Packing the suitcase, leaving for the airport at 4:00 a.m. !

Hello! Good Luck to you! I am one year (May12) out from my surgery at the Cleveland Clinic with Dr P. I also traveled via plane to Cleveland for my valve replacement and aneurysm repair. No problems at all with the travel and follow on stay at the onsite hotel. Was chauffeured by CC car service...

    Arm pain post op

Sorry about the arm pain! I think heart centers probably individualize their approach to set up for surgery as my arms were positioned tightly at my sides during my avr and aneurysm repair. I asked about this at preop the day before surgery with the surgical team as I had concerns re a shoulder...

    today's the day

Work towards taking walks down the hospital hallways and maybe use a pedometer to mark your progress as the days turn to weeks...

    Checking In

Bravo! Glad to hear your surgery went smoothly and you are feeling better. Wonderful that you are now sleeping well and don't feel sick. The halucinations really were annoying for me post surgery and even kept me awake. They tapered off and then stopped when I quit the pain meds and switched to...

    My turn Wednesday Aug 15

Sorry you have the added stress of an unexpected delay to your surgery. Not fun! You may want to consider asking your surgeons office for a script for Xanax to take the edge off as my surgeons nurse described it. I am in the camp of less drugs the better but found that the day before surgery I...

    Home from Hospital!

Congrats! Lucky you to go a day early for your surgery. Anemia is a common by product of the surgery and can cause an elevated heart rate. The anemia should resolve on its own and you will have more energy and feel better. Eat well and rest. Bravo!

    surgery tomorrow!

Best wishes for a peaceful approach to your surgeries Mike1952 and Raquetshopper! I focused some of my pre surgery anxiety on researching and buying a great heating pad, a pedometer, a new thermometer and a precise scale. All essentials, in my opinion, and based on the fact I had a plastic and...
