    Nerve pain in leg?

Glad your surgery went well! Never had a heart cath done though so not sure about the pain. But I hope it resolves quickly for you! xx

Exercises (Mitral & Aortic Valve Replacements)

Agility- yes haha I get quite a bit of stares in a bathing suit. People wonder why I have multiple "belly buttons" (chest tube scars) Sumo runner & tprice- thank you that is very helpful! Normofthenorth-- thank you so much! I'm definitely going to look into it and since I'm a college student...

The Ross procedure - best of both??

I was recommended the Ross Valve for my last surgery in 2010! I grew up with my mechanical valve and once I found out I was able to get this type of valve I felt blessed and didn't exactly know what to do with the opportunity. They were planning on going ahead with the Ross Valve but during my...

Exercises (Mitral & Aortic Valve Replacements)

HI EVERYONE!! This thread is to ask what kind of exercises are "okay" for me. I've had 2 mitral valve replacements and an aortic valve replacement so I currently have 2 mechanical valves. I am 19 years old and I was over weight for my height before and after my last surgery (in 2010)...

    Ladies Question

The first few will probably be scary for her but just reassure her that it's not something to be worried about. She will get used to them over time more than likely. And as far as the birth control goes, I wouldn't worry about it too much either. Just make sure she knows it's too risky for her...

    What would happen if...

Scott-- yes, I think we are all very blessed :) LeakyUK-- I only wanted ice chips after my last surgery. I didn't even want to eat food but it got to the point that I wasn't eating and my dad would keep feeding me McDonalds chicken nuggets even though I would tell him I didn't want anything...

    What would happen if...

Scott-- Yes I don't remember the first couple days from the morphine, I slept most of the time also. I go to a childrens hospital so I always get pillows in the shape of a dogs head that random people see for us. Haha that's cute what your children do! They definitely care about you! I am the...

    Doctors just don't care!

Don't hesitate, definitely get a second opinion! I've had 2 balloons and it just depends on how bad the valves really are before the surgery. My first one was successful giving me better breathing for a couple years but my second one wasn't successful at all considering my mitral just had too...

    What would happen if...

Scott, I had some vomiting post op -- could've been from anesthesia or from the morphine but I was pretty out of it so I'm not sure if it was painful. If you do happen to start coughing or sneezing though, try holding a pillow on your chest. It will support your sternum and hopefully stop some...

    2 questions in 1.

I think it is different for everyone. I slept for hours then woke up and would sorta be there but drift back to sleep. That might've been my pain medication though. They had me on morphine, which also made me hallucinate.

    Ladies Question

Hello! This may be a little graphic but I think I can help you out with this question. I had my mechanical valve before I started my cycles. I'm now 19 years old. I'm also on Coumadin for my valve and was put on my blood thinners way before I had my periods. When my periods started they were...
