6 Year Update to 2nd Mitral Valve Repair surgery

The new (and finally great) cardiologist works at the same hospital as the old one. My gf found the new guy and I told him that she better not see the old cardiologist as she's incapable of hearing about him..she gets murderous.. I hope I don't run into him as I will be incapable of being fake...

Contradictory opinion on when to have mitral valve repair

I can only share that I have been in a similar situation when my first Mitral Valve repair started to a slow fail 2-3 years after..then at five years post op, I felt much as you describe feeling. I saw two leading heart surgeons. One wanted to do it as soon as I could the other said it's 50-50...

    The old members

I first registered here in 2003-2004 and the forum was a huge help. I think there was a failure of the forum software and I too had to re-register at least once. I was and still am an Administrator for a couple of large forums and am not active much at all anymore. I think forum use in general...

6 Year Update to 2nd Mitral Valve Repair surgery

This will be a strange story and while I could write a book on the journey I've taken since I had my Mitral Valve repaired for the second time 6 years ago. I'll start with the great fact that the valve is holding up beautifully! On my last Echo Stress test, there was only Trace leakage, which...

    Really great news!

It really is. I can't believe it. I have become almost conditioned to expect troubling results and for the first time didn't even have expectations of an increase in EF..I figured it had already gone to 51 from 35 and that would be it! Can't wait to get the full final results. I hope the heart...

    Really great news!

I haven't posted in a long time but the short story is my ejection fraction 3 months post surgery around 3 years ago was 45%, the next test three months later was 40% and then again 35% I figured out the cause on my own. And I donated blood to bring iron levels down..but due to the doctor...

Day One at the Gym...Can use feedback and support!

I appreciate you having read through this thread and posting about my sleep pattern. I don't know how non standard my sleep pattern is other than me being a nightowl who doesn't have to get up early most of the time! But I do think it would be better for me in all ways to alter that schedule a...

Day One at the Gym...Can use feedback and support!

THank you! Day One at the Gym...Can use feedback and support!

Hi All, Here I am posting almost 6 months later.. As I feared I wasn't able to get the momentum I had hoped and I was actually embarrassed to post here.. I had been struggling with the circus of trying to get my medication and treatment on the right track and in spite of two of the 'best'...

Day One at the Gym...Can use feedback and support!

Thats very impressive and good information. I know years ago I was able to do pretty much the same as you are on the treadmill but that was really a while..I think over ten years..not sure if I tried doing that since the first MV repair in 2003..I know I haven't since the second repair in 2011...

Day One at the Gym...Can use feedback and support!

what's your routine like now and when did you start and start at? I wonder if I should try to do this every day or if that's going to be too aggressive to start...I just came back and even though i promised myself today would be an 'easy' day, I still started to jog at 5mph pace for 2 minutes...

Day One at the Gym...Can use feedback and support!

This is true as I was on Coreg a year ago, not knowing at the time what was causing the low EF..but here I am again only this time I do need it.. Back then my old cardiologist mistakenly thought the reason for the low EF was just normal recovery from OHS..His thesis though is interesting in how...

Day One at the Gym...Can use feedback and support!

Wow...very impressive..What distance did you do in 30 minutes? Very interesting how you felt it was all inside your head as now I am starting to realize to a large extent that's been true for me but in my case..up until pretty much right now, it would have been dangerous and pointless to try as...

Day One at the Gym...Can use feedback and support!

Haha...Didn't take you long to see through my excuse! Ok, I won't throw out the idea of training for some event eventually or someday...and that's not an excuse I promise..But I want to complete 2 weeks proving I can go to the gym or at least do the same activity level most days of the week...

OK! Ordered the Omron HJ-321..I had been looking for a replacement for the Pulse I lost and this is cheap and I don't thnk I need an activity tracker so much as they just didn't seem accurate.. Just bought the Zombie app! I never thought of exercise apps...I see other people on the treadmills...
