Constant Migraines, Neurologist appointment coming up soon

Hi protimenow, All the symptoms you have mentioned, with the exception (Thankfully) of the Speach impediment are common with me. I was always told that caffeine is more likely to exacerbate the migraine, but if you say that in your experience, it shortens it, then I will definitely try...

Constant Migraines, Neurologist appointment coming up soon

Hi al, Actually, every anti inflammatory I have seen includes a contra-indication warning for warfarin And yes, a few years back, i was prescribed an anti inflammatory...when I questioned the doctor, he said it would be fine...it took me about 6 months to re-stabilize my INR. I obviously have...

    (Sigh), the yoyo strikes back!

Hi all, PTN, no, I was in hospital a month back, but just for for a few days (officially a week, but I had a day pass for most of it). And btw, a non anticoagulated INR is 1, not 0 :-) And I know that INR is an awful measurement, and am not really stressed about my 3.4 (assumed 3.6 on a vein...

    (Sigh), the yoyo strikes back!

Hmmmm, Well, this is not in range anymore, not that 3.4 scares me, per se, but perhaps I'll just eat that avo at home and not worry about it. I did 2 tests, just in case the one strip was faulty, but 3.4 and 3.3 seem close enough together! No extra sun time (I'm not really solar powered)...

chest tight ... small sharp pains

Hi there, I recommend 2 thing to do urgently! These symptoms are not to be taken lightly. They are either your heart telling you it needs to be fixed, or the stress causing physical symptoms which stress you even more! First, contact your cardio. If the symptoms are your heart - get it...

    (Sigh), the yoyo strikes back!

Hi all! So, after being hospitalized a month back because my INR was way too low (1.2, target 2-3), my INR stabilized at a comfortable 2.4 (per my shiny new CoaguChek XS) or 2.6 (per my clinic vein blood draw). Been stable there on 11mg/day for about a month My CoaguChek reliably reports 0.2...

Question about dosage pre and post surgery

Hi there, My understanding is that your moms doctors will want her completely off warfarin pre surgery, to reduce bleeding risk during surgery. Then the doc's will need to titrate her back to the correct INR level. The Target INR may stay the same, or it may change. That is not really...

    Toprol and short-term memory loss

Shortly after my OHS, i experienced palpitations...usually during my walk. they tell you to get out and walk during post-op recovery, but a walk around the block becomes scary when your heard goes wild! Card put me on Beta Blockers for a very short term...i think it was a week, and don't...

    Cooker's Throwdown Friday III -- 12-3

No scale at home, and too busy today to get to the Gym, so I don't know how I did this week... Had a good gym session, but also had a great Starbucks chocolate and nut muffin...I'm guessing they cancel each other out! I'll post tomorrow! David

    Ugly puffy scar

I was recommended Vitamin E oil, probably what is in the patch and/ or cream! They do lighten and go down after a while, but the scar will always be there! Think of it as a battle scar, and you lived to tell the tale! Congrats on that "new heart" feeling! We've all been there - me, for 10...

    authorization

Your health, your decision! Just because a doctor had studied extensively, does not make him or her God! Unless the doctor has a good reason to refuse, they should not have the right to! I also disagree with home testing, and then allowing doctor to make $4000 per year by reeadng a chart...

    How to find a "clinic"?

Hi there, I South Africa, most pathology labs (with blood taking facilities in hospitals or clinics around the country) will act as a coumarin clinic. If they have you on file, you simply tell them your current dosage and they will then give you any adjustments after the test results...although...

    Am I being unfair?

Hi Steve, I am not trying to be contrary, but why discount an opinion without fully hearing it. That's why we have second (and in my case, third) opinions. Interviewing a doctor is not promising him that he will do the surgery, but if everyone is saying "A", and someone else, highly respected...
