I had a heart murmur (referred to as "innocent") from the time I was 6 or 8. I developed symptoms that I thought were intestinal in August. My gastroenterologist insisted I have a cardiac work-up in October, when I was diagnosed with aortic stenosis.

- Valve replacement (bovine tissue valve), aortic root replacement and aortic grafting on 11/2/2009. Will need a new valve in 12-15 years.
