    Vision Disturbances and Migraines

I had bouts of double vision, ocular migraines and a host of other visual disturbances after surgery which no doctor seemed to relate to surgery. The good news is that it began to happen less often and now almost 4 1/2 years later I would have to say things are back to normal.

    mechanical valve noise

At one year this coming Tuesday I've become pretty accustomed to the clicking in my chest and mouth but another resulting sound for me is the clicking in my sinuses. I have a deviated septum and tight drainage openings in my sinuses and over the course of my life I would get a click going in...

New to Coumadin, trying to understand instructions given

I've been home testing since March but have had to play the game of "obeying orders" I finally got a prescription for a second strength but not what I needed to make my dose work. Last week I sent the lab my doses and INR and to keep in range I had to do .75 of one strength and .75 of the...

    mechanical valve noise

Im almost 9 months out and am still very aware of the clicking but it's different now. It's just another sound my body makes and according to my girlfriend that's a long list

    INR way too low.

When I added the 7th day at 7.5 it wasn't to make an adjustment it was simply to take that drop out so I didn't have to wonder if the low reading was simply because of that one day at 5mg. I'm new enough to this that I'm not sure of how long it would take to drop after that one day at 5 (which...

    INR way too low.

Another INR question. I've been drifting low again and also have a bit of an ear infection. Has anyone experienced a drop in INR with any sort of infection like sinus or ear infection. I've been on 7.5 for 6 days and 5 for one day a week and have been staying at 2.5 or 24. So in an effort to...

    Really low INR

I have always been steady at 2.7 to 2.9 but the last few weeks I've been dropping quite a bit. I have been taking 40mg per week and am now at 47.5 per week. I know that for me summer weather brings more salads but this surprised me. Only other things that have changed are a lot more time in...

    Endocarditis signs and symptoms

It was endocarditis that earned me a trip to the table for my new clicker and every time I think back to when I was losing weight and sweating buckets at night I still can't believe I put off seeing a doctor for so long. It was a visit for back pain that showed my GP a racing heart rate for...

    Staying the Course -- 7-17-2015

I'm with Pelilcle here. I've had some weight issues since surgery but mostly its a positive thinking issue. Be nice to have a place to just vent. I sometimes just need to unload and I'm sure people on here can relate to most pitfalls of OHS

I'm tired all the time, could it be from the Coumadin?

I've been dealing with the same problem and am sure its the metoprolol. Feeling tired makes exercise tough to even think about but I find that the more I do activity wise throughout the day the better I feel. Not sure if you take a beta blocker but if you do that may be what's dragging you down.

    Weird question maybe

How long ago was your surgery?

    Update/ question

I had asked my surgeon about it and he told me that it's quite a bit more painful post surgery but the recovery time is much quicker. Never spoke to anyone that has had it.

Can I drink a damn beer?

I started using the rubber band after seeing this and fine it not only speeds things up but I don't lose strips because I don't get a large enough drop and end up with an error message. My strips are cheap but so am I so wasting one on a bad try I figure cost me two beers each time

    ED and Coumadin

A bit off subject, shortly after surgery I was put on a mild BP med to aid the beta blocker in "keeping my heart quiet". The med made me cough terrible so my cardio wrote me a script for a new one and said start taking it at night instead of morning. Without thinking I took it that night instead...

    2nd time around avrl

I've got a mechanical mitral valve and one of my most common statements since surgery is " my new valve and heart are working better than ever but everything else went to ****". Warfarin is nothing to deal with and I'm new to all this but surgery and the meds during the recovery period kicked my...
