Just to be clear I wasn't suggesting that anyone including myself test only every 6 months. At a minimum we should test every month or at least that was what I always did in the past for years and years. I just haven't been getting it done because I have anxiety and spend 99% of my time at home...
Protimenow and lance,
I've heard of open office but never gave it a try. I was put off by the large file size. I also can't remember if it needs .NET framework which I avoid lol. I may need to investigate it though as this is the 2nd time this month where a spreadsheet program would come in...
Unfortunately I don't have Excel. I also need a spreadsheet to track my rechargeable batteries hehe.
I was able to find a simple chart but I'll have to improvise if I need to make a comment. The .pdf can be found at this link and is labeled "INR Results Chart for Heart Valve Patients: the same...
What you both said makes complete sense to me. My Dr. has been pretty lenient so I have faith he will work with me if my number is out of whack. I think testing more often will be better for the both of us now that I have read everyone's comments.
I'm also going to look for a chart to print so...
Before I was able to get disability I didn't have any money so I couldn't take my coumadin for a month or two. I voluntarily went to a hospital for treatment for my depression and they started me back on coumadin during that week. My INR level didn't come back up so they asked if I wanted to go...
My diet used to be fairly consistent but lately I've been eating more often with a family member which likes fast food. Your advice about overreacting to minor blips is good advice that I'll follow.
Greetings Lance. It's good to hear from a couple people that small changes won't cause the doc...
The only problem I have with testing weekly is I'm afraid that I will start chasing my level. I'm used to eating what I want and doing what I want and the level seems to stay the same. If I test more often I'm sure my habits will change and I don't like change :(. I'll also have sore fingers...
Good to hear that your newer machine works better than the old. Also, thanks for the tips on preventing errors. I will definitely try to find a place where I'm comfortable working with the machine for consistent results. I need to do the same thing when I solder as I tend to get nervous which...
Hi Dick. Sorry to hear you had to quit home testing because of billing problems. I'm surprised to hear that the tests cost so much at $7 each. Was this to cover the test strip and the leasing of the machine? I also wish I could buy the machine outright and eliminate the middle man. I guess I...
Hi everyone! Before I went to my doctor's appt. last month I called medicare and they said that everything was covered for home INR testing because I have an artificial heart valve. Last month at my doctor visit I inquired about getting a home INR monitor. Last week I get a phone call from mdINR...
