Twenty-five year outcomes following composite graft aortic root replacement

Thanks folks.... so here are my choices: * Dr Woo in Stanford wants to repair my valve. And he wants to do it by doing a David V. He thinks the repair will hold 10 years and then he will "TAVR". Dr Woo has not done any AV repairs yet. I will be doing a much more complex operation and still...

Twenty-five year outcomes following composite graft aortic root replacement

Preop at Stanford on Thursday Chris. Getting a little anxious. So many suboptimal options to choose from. The path the Stanford guy is recommending (David V) is not recommended by Cleveland guy. I'm caught in the middle and will just have to pick a path I think. I wish the experts would arrive...

Edwards new valve ... Inspira Resilia

My Cardiologist at Stanford thinks its too early for me to go with this new valve. Not enough test data. The surgeon at Cleveland thinks the risk is manageable. Its a tough call, but I trust my Stanford doctors and I think I'll just go with their advice. If I could have waited a year for the...

Its becoming pretty standard to require dental clearance. If you have a dental procedure done, the bacteria in your mouth can enter your bloodstream through the wound and sometimes cause endocarditis. So surgeons are now requiring dental clearance to ensure u have no active oral infection or...

Edwards new valve ... Inspira Resilia

Hi Folks, Cleveland clinic called today to say the new valve will be available for use starting Jan 15th. And since my surgery is scheduled in late Feb, its an option they are offering. This is the tissue valve being marketed as having a 20+ yr life. I am torn.... there is really no...

When Edwards' INSPIRIS RESILIA Valve will be market available in US?

I asked Dr Svensson about his valve when I met him last month. He was the lead investigator for this valve and is quite bullish on it. He said he had been pushing Edwards to let himuse the valve but they have not yet released it to him or in the US market. Dunno why Edwards is going slow on it...

Mechanical heart valve often the safest choice

Link to the study.... http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1613792?query=featured_cardiology I am struck by the low survival rates regardless of which valve you pick. According to standard actuarial tables, a 52 year old today has a 89.8% chance of living beyond 67 years of age. But...

    Newbie Looking for Advice

I talked with the clinic again & its actually just a mini-sternotomy. So not a "keyhole" surgery that I thought I heard the surgeon say. Cactus52, I would love to hear what you learn at Emory.

I went to Cleveland clinic yesterday and meet Dr Svennson. He was offering to replace my valve through a keyhole surgery without opening the chest. The...
