A heart murmur was heard at birth, but nothing was diagnosed at the time. As I got into elementary school, the heart murmur would become extremely loud when I had an asthma attack. This prompted the doctor to have my parents to take me to a cardiologist. I was then diagnosed with a bicuspid mild-moderate stenotic aortic valve. The doctor said I would definitely need surgery before the age of 20. I just had my first valve replacement at the age of 35. However, I spent from high school on becoming more and more exhausted, especially after giving birth to my two children.

My kids, church, reading, video games, television, sewing. . .lots of stuff!

I just had my aortic valve replacement on 9/18/14 with a tissue valve at the age of 35. Still in recovery, so I don't have a lot to share yet, but I'm hoping this a lifechanger in a good way!
