Hi,

I thought I would take a break from the issues at hand and share with you all some pictures of where I was 2 weeks ago. While working in Germany I took a week off, and had my wife join me for a trip to Italy. We went to Venice, Florence and Amalfi. Here a few pictures of each place that I thought I would share with everyone.

Rob

These first 2 are in Venice

The Famous bridge in Florence.

The Famous bridge in Florence.

This is the bridge in Florence that has all small jewelry maker shops across it.

The Venice shots remind me of when Dick and I were there 40 years ago- time to go back- beautiful!

The statue "David"

The statue "David"

Yep.. this is the original.. I snuck my camera out.. guilty, of taking a picture in the museum. Had the "flash" turned off.. and all in all, it came out pretty good! :)

Amalfi

Amalfi

The southern coast of Italy really surprised me. Extremely beautiful and with some very high mountains.

The Isle of Capri

The Isle of Capri

This was fabulous. Wish I could share all the villa and garden shots I took.
Overall, I took 886 pictures during the trip.

As a retiree who is now a student of Italian, I adore your photos!!! I studied Italian for two weeks in Florence in 2003. Great experience! I love Venice and may go there to study next year for two weeks. I have not yet been to the Amalfi Coast, but your photos are giving me the itch to go!!!

Ciao,

Can't forget Rob the tourist...

Can't forget Rob the tourist...

Had to put in one of me. but this is the last one... for now.. don't want to get Ross after me for post too many pictures.. :D

Ross.. I will delete these in a few weeks... promise.. ;)

This was taken when we went to the Tuscany wine country. We had lunch is a small township there.. after we ventured out on our own on the public transportation. We didn't know where we were to get off the bus, so stayed on, thinking it would go to a bus terminal in the town. WRONG!!! the bus driver did not speak English, and took us to the end of the line. I dirt parking area out in the middle of the wine country. He opened the door, got out, went to his car, and left us sitting on the bus..

So, we had a pleasant walk down the Chianti country roads and vineyards back to the village. :)

Oh!
I always wanted to visit there!
I'm glad you got to see it.:)

The bridge in Florence. what is that on top of each end or is it an illusion. I love paintings of that bridge.

All of these are spectacular (specially the one of you but I still like the boat one of long ago!). It's so nice that you are getting the grand tour while you are there. Are you going to Paris - might not want to take your wife there; lots of shops. Looks like you prefer the quieter tourist attractions. I saw on the news that there is now the very first female gondaleer.

I love Italy especially Tuscany and the Almafi Coast. Actually I just love Italy. We traveled there a lot when we lived in England.

Really terrific pictures; thanks for sharing. I haven't been to Italy (yet). Glad you had such a nice time.

Thanks, Rob.

I have a gorgeous painting of the Amalfi Coast hanging in my bedroom so I can see it last thing at night and dream about being there. I fear this will be the closest I ever get to the real thing.

Glad you got to go in person.

Rob post away my friend. We got plenty of disk space, so it's not a problem plus These pics are of a place I'll never get too and it's nice to see things that I won't get to in person.
