I have bruises all over me self but one in particular is the size of Texas and it is dark black and has grown a bit. Is this anything to be concerned with? My INR's are at 3.0. I feel great but just want to make sure this bruise is nothing to be concerned about. Have a wonderful day!:)

How long have you had this one to notice it's growing? More then two days, I'd get it checked on.

Usually a very dark black bruise, that is growing, is indicative that there is still bleeding going on. If it is growing, I would check with the doctor.

Hi Haley

Black is not good. In spite of the common phrases ?black eye? or ?black and blue. Ecchymosis is not black. Initially the lesion starts out as bluish. As the blood cells degenerate, the hemoglobin that hey contain changes to bilirubin and then hemosiderin. The accompanying color change is from blue to green and purple. The final result is a brownish hue. Granted, it is sometimes difficult to tell the mixture of purple and green from black, but if it is black and expanding at the same time, then it is unlikely that this is only from blood. The mixture of fresh blood into and around the lesion should give up a mixture of colors.

Bottom line, get it checked out now, probably by a dermatologist.

I have a ton of bruises at the moment. Have been much more active outdoors. This time of year usually equates to more bruising, at least for myself:rolleyes:

Hi Haley im chris nice to meet you ,I would check it out with your regualar dr. I have had many of those only when my INR is high. always call the dr let them no right away especailly if its growing take care chris

Dr Allan's statements are really good. He made some to me when my bro was so ill that were right on target. Please go see your doctor to see why you have these bruises and what they are.

If you have many and can't attribute them to anything in particular (I've been clearning bushes and weed trees so I'm pretty scraped up and have some bruises from the branches) you should get it checked out.

I've had some bruises that look pretty black. I am very fair skinned and bruise easily, so maybe that makes a difference. When you say "growing", are you sure it's growing and not just spreading? The large bruises that I've had seemed to move outward and downward from the middle in the healing process. The center and top would start getting lighter while the diameter would get larger until the whole thing would eventually fade away.

Most grateful thanks!!

Most grateful thanks!!

I am watching them closely and they are so very black. I cant get into my doc for a month so I have just been watching closely to see if they are growing. They did a bit a few days ago but seem to be the same now. I did hurt myself badly and am welted also so these are making it quite difficult to walk. Ice is what has been helping. I Hope this will work.:)

If they're that bad and they start to grow, go to the ER if your Doc won't see you pronto. Not something I like to tell anyone to do because I hate it myself, but sometimes there isn't a choice.
