Need lots more information.
What was your INR the test before this one?
When was that test?
How often are you being tested?
What has been your Coumadin dose Monday Thru Sunday prior to this?
What other medications are you on?

To highlight Ross' last question "What other medications are you on?"

You speak often about having high INR's and leg pains and bruising being a sign. I've been on Coumadin for over 15 years and haven't had an INR of 8 or over. I've come close once. If you are frequently getting these high INR's something is not right here. Your dose at 3mg/day is fairly small. Management of that small a dose should not be giving you these wide swings. So I'm wondering what else is playing into your warfarin management - other medications might be part of the answer, or more importantly frequent additions of medications for brief periods of time.

I'm also wondering if you have another medical issue, as yet undiagnosed, that is playing in to these frequent high INR's. I think you are in need of a good, complete physical workup with an extensive look at your blood.

My INR prior to that was 2.0 I am tested each mth I was last tested end of feb. I take 3 milgs each day mon- sun my leg is swellon with some bruses

Something you've done has caused the rise or else it's a bad test. Whatever the case may be, you need to be followed up on and the cause discovered.
