How hot are yall?We are 91 degrees now..but live on top of a mountain..most towns below us are 95 degrees.Saw on CNN where Chicago had a power outage..with mostly elderly people living in high rise apartments....said, in 1975 over 700 people died in the heat there. ..How are you staying cool? We stayed inside and weeded out our drawers..(socks, old clothes, ect.)After moving our daughter this week, we decided to get rid of old things we never use...Have a wonderful thrift shop...money goes to our local Community center. We are lucky that we have several dumpters on the way out of our gated community..Hard to find places that take clothes.(free)Will put them in car trunk and take to larger town where they have stores for the poor, ect.....Mainly heavy coats..for the South has not had any cold winters for many years..Global Warming? ...So, how are yall staying cool?:p Bonnie

96, it's horrid. Not as hot as it was supposed to be, tho. I spent the day so far bathing grandsons and taking them to the hospital to see their new sister!

As my daughter said, it's not a bad day for spending in the hospital (I say it's a really bad day for walking across blacktop hospital parking lots, however).

I just read that..drink water ..every hour..(Urine is a good indicator if you are getting enough fluids)suppose to be light in color..not dark)..and eat light. No protein..things like watermelon, ect...Stay inside from 10 a.m. until 4 P.m.I trimmed down some old flowers at 9 a.m. and was pouring water from my head this morning:eek: )..so stayed inside the rest of the day..Bonnie

I was 91 about 2 hours ago, were starting to cool off somewhat:

Currently
7 PM
Temp 89°F 32°C Feels Like 96°F 36°C Relative Humidity: 57%
Wind Speed & Direction: SW at 8 mph

It was 100 when I left work at 4PM. It felt like I was walking into a wet sauna. By the time I got to my car, I was wheezing and wringing wet. Awful and we have a few more days coming.

It's down to 90˚F now. I can't find anything that tells me how hot it did get. It was supposed to hit 100˚F. It's supposed to go over 101˚F tomorrow. New Jersey can be a humid torture chamber, with thick, unbreathable air.

I melt in the heat, so apart from taking out the garbage, it's the Great Indoors for me.

Best wishes,

I think it hit 100 here.. also calling for the same tomorrow.. my AC in my apt is still kicking... set at 78 during the day, kicked back to 72 when I got home at 4 - 4 hours later, still reading at 78... it's kicking out cool air, just can't keep up with the heat.. one draw back about being on the top floor (3rd) - heat rises.. while it's been a wet summer, I guess we're in the "dog days" of it now..

Chris

Whew!!!!!!! It is BOILING here in NH.....

Whew!!!!!!! It is BOILING here in NH.....

I guess ole' Harrybaby won't be doing much but sit around in the AC tomorrow just trying to keep breathing....Hope yall are taking it easy....Harrybaby:eek: :D

Yes, it's been hot in Maine, too. I've been watching the weather up there near the camp. They've been hitting about 90˚F during the heat of the day.

The difference is that past Bangor, the night temperatures go down to 58˚- 60˚F. Good for sleeping, anyway. Wish I were there...

Best wishes,

When I'm at work I work in our computer room and we keep it in the 60's temperature wise. When I am at home I am in the pool or house. But, even the pool water was up to 92 yesterday. I am taking the granddaughters school supply shopping Saturday and I plan on sticking to one or two stores. It is just too hot to be getting in and out of the car.

Hot,Hot,Hot. I spent the early part of yesterdaywatering my veggies, and running errands for my father in law, who's in a rehab facility for a few weeks.Everything including me was wilted by noon.I keep bottled water in the car. Even though it's not cold it's wet. As I passed a police officer on road detail I would stick a bottle out the window. Boy were they surprised.:D The temp at 7pm was still 84 with a feels like of 95. When I got up this morning to walk the dog at 5 am it was 76. Today will be worse. I can walk to the beach at the end of my street, and it's this hot! Keep cool, Deb

Strange Weather:

Strange Weather:

We have had strange weather in New Mexico. Up in the mountains it never gets really hot, and was in the 50's when I got up at 6:30 this morning. That is normal, but what has been abnormal is the rain. We always seem to be short of rain, but the heavens have gushed open, especially in the last 2 weeks. We have received more rain in the month of July than ever recorded in the past. We are normally very concerned about forest fires, but at the moment we are all soggy.

Dennis, it's wonderful to hear that you've have rain - I know NM has been in trouble with drought for several years. When I worked I handled the state of NM, and every time one of the government people would email me he'd add "pray for rain." What a pleasure for you to not have to worry about fire. Now, how about landslides . . .

HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT.......GET THE PICTURE!!!!!

Just came in from outside and our thermometer read 100.2.......nasty hot!!!
The dogs don't want to be out, the cat doesn't want to be out and neither do I. Ran around this morning doing shopping, but will be in till at least 6. We're 3 minutes from the sound and about 5 minutes from the Peconic bay......I surely wouldn't want to be inland if this is what it's like here!!!!

Evelyn, are you near Hampton Bays? My mom's cousin lives there - we visited there one summer - I loved it. Of course, it was cool and sunny.
