Does anyone have experience with wide pulse pressure? That is the difference in the systolic & diastolic BP. Oddly, a few weeks ago Jerry's BP was unusually low, the 90s/50s and sometimes as low as 81/44. He felt fine through it all. The cardio took away his HCTZ and another diuretic (he had also lost several pounds for no reason). Now his BP is running high again with a pulse pressure of almost 100 at times. (173/75, etc) This with the adding back of some of the BP meds.
In Googling "widening pulse pressure" I get articles indicating that this can be a precursor to a cardiac event. I'll be calling the dr back tomorrow; I last talked to them about 2 weeks ago when the BP had started rising.
I guess my question is: Could this have anything to do with possible failure of his St Jude valve, or perhaps his ascending aortic aneurysm?
