I am over 3 year post op, and have my eye on a 7.62/.308 riffle. I shoot an AR15 all the time, but it doesn't kick much. If we have any sportsman here, do you have any idea of how firing a high powered riffle would affect a mechanical valve?

I don't think it can affect it at all. When I was recovering this summer the surgeon said no rifle or trap shooting, but that was only to protect the incision. After 10 weeks he and the cardiologist said I can do whatever I want.

No issues, AK has a little more of a kick than AR, IMHO. Have not tried 12 gauge yet, you first. :p Avoid bolt action 308 but a semi-auto may be ok.
