Hi there my name is Dr Mark Rippon, I am a Visiting Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in wound care. I have recently undergone aortic valve replacement and was surprised at some aspects of the wound care related to pain and psychological stress. As part of a small research project with the University of Huddersfield I have decided to investigate this further with a small questionnaire aimed at patients that have recently undergone major surgery through an online survey form. I was wondering if you could help me drive patients to the questionnaire by allowing the link to the survey on your patient website. The project is non-profit making and not commercially funded, but should help with a greater understanding of the needs of post-surgical patients with regards to their wound care treatment .The link to the questionnaire is https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6V6P3XQ Regards

I was pleased to do the suvey, but disappointed that the questions were only about the incision dressing really, they didn't ask much about post operative pain from the actual incision. There wasn't really any space in which to say about that which I think more important. I had a lot of incision pain but virtually none from the dressings - actually I remember that I only had some very clear thin, transparent dressing for a couple of days and then the wound was just left open to the air.

It's only been a year and a half, but of all that happened with the surgery the dressing was just not at all memorable. The survey mentions sutures but I had no visible ones. I never asked but I think they were underneath and the incision itself was glued. As a result I didn't have a dressing for long because I know I never had to change one myself after getting home.

my incision was glued , i believe, no pain at all but he did a different thing from the neck to the top of my breasts , no scar there and i have a clean scar , red though but no problems with it. i had surgery on
july 18th. i had no pain but terrible time with blood pressure which i never had before in my life and still am having problems. very tired but it is healing. i believe..still have to see my cardiologist.
