The one that my son had was also a new experimental pump that was small enough to be implanted in someone his size (he was only about 5'6" at the time). There are also a couple of women with it right now. My son's heart also recovered enough for the pump to be removed. It is incredible technology, my son probably would have died without it. I don't think he would have lived long enough to get a new heart. His EF is 45 now which isn't great, but it is good enough.
