How long have you stayed on the same dose? Who is the vr.com
record-holder? I guess we have some members that have used
coumadine/warfarin for many, many years and I was curious if
someone has managed to keep the same dosage for year after
year?

I guess when you grow older you start to metabolize slower and you
need less coumadine over the years?

I´ve been on the same dosage for more then a year now, 61.25 mg
/week/3 1/2 pills(2.5 mg) every day. I can go up and down a bit, but
I try to regulate that with broccoli, spinach, salads, rather then changing
the dosage. Normally I tend to go little bit high if I do not eat a consistent
diet with vitamin K´s. I prefer it that way, better to eat your way down
with healthy vegetables, then staying in range without it. It also give
you some room to manoveur your INR down with the veggies. I couldn´t
manage it without my coaguchek and would not recommend this style
without self-testing.

So how long have you managed to stay on the same dose?

P:S For those who read this and struggle with jumpy INR´s - hang in
there, with time you´ll get stabilized in most cases - we´ve all been
there......

I'm certainly no record holder, but I've been on 52.5 per week for almost 12 years. INR is always in range but for a couple times. I don't fret over diet, exercise or anything. I test once every four to six weeks at a lab and let it go...

Les, I don't know if this is a record but it certainly is an honorable mention.

Well I'm not the record holder either.
I take 30mg per week and that hasn't changed for eight and a half years.
Like Les said there have been a few bumps but no changes.

I guess I am sensitive to warfarin. Two months after surgery in 1998 I found my dose was 19 to 21 mgms per week. I self test every 2 weeks and use the 10% solution to adjust if over 3.5 or under 2.5. Most of the time stay near 3.0 but I still believe in frequent testing.Thats why all studies show self testers and self dosers do better than people that go to the hospital lab every six weeks.

You ain't no fun! I actually like inflicting a hole in my finger weekly. It does things for me. :D

45mg per week here.
