Hello all,

Well I went in for my first echo post op (3 months June 10) and my cardiologist says I have a great valve doing what it needs to be doing and a beautiful heart.

I was so scared because I dreamed last night that my 19 year old daughter drove me to the cardiologist on her bicycle and carried me in her bike basket. I dreamt all of my tests came back horrible and that my cardiologist chewed me out for an hour.

Well my daughter drives a car and not a bike. We've never owned a bike basket. My echo was great and my cardiologist didn't find it too humerous that I'd even think he's scream at me.

My INR was 7.5 and he was terrified. I'm off of coumadin for a few days and go back Monday.

Anyway, my valve and heart look good...wanted to share!

Great to hear! I just recently had my post-op echo...I'm 8 weeks (2 months) and it was horrible. Really freaked me out...but I'm hearing that it's not that uncommon to have bad echos after surgery. I'm glad to hear your's turned out great though.

Isn't that awesome to hear? I'll never forget the day my cardio told me, "Your valve is beautiful!"
...But he did tell me that my heart is "bizarre"! :p (me and my crazy post-op heart fun!)

Hope your heart is beautiful (and valve, too! :D) for many years to come!

Best,

My INR was 7.5 and he was terrified. I'm off of coumadin for a few days and go back Monday.

7.5 isn't anything to get terrified over unless your bleeding.

What dose do they have you taking for the week and are you eating like you always have or have you listened to some numbskulls telling you to stay away from green vegetables and other sources of Vit K.

This INR reeks of mismanagement. Tell us your dosing history and diet and other meds.

Glad to hear everything is going so good for you. Also, its nice to know that some of us have imaginations left, even if it is subconsciously, in dreams.

Hello all,

Well I kind of messed up my INR...my cardiologist allowed me to have someone else read it but he wanted to be the one who dosed me. I was going to my neuro's office and letting them do it all.

I have to go to cardiologist only until it is under control.....off all coumadin until Monday and go for my check on Monday. Once I get it under control I can go every four weeks.

I've not changed anything on my diet so not sure what happened. They did have a new machine but it was calibrated well.

I hate his coumadin and just dread being on it forever.

You should also have all your INRs and doses written down on a calendar.
Don't depend on the clinics to be perfect, sadly, many times they are not.
Hopefully you will test at least every 3 days to keep an eye on this until you are in range.
good luck.
