The direct thrombin inhibitor DABIGATRIN used for acute thromboembolism in a fixed dose was as effective as warfarin, was safe, and did not require monitoring.

I wonder if it will ever be used for prophylaxis long term for us valvers?
Hmm...fixed dose for all, no monitoring required!
