Brown blood?

Just completed my weekly pt/inr testing. My acceptable range is 2.5-3.5 and today's reading was 2.5. After I applied gauze to stop the bleeding I noticed that my blood was brown rather than the usual red. Anyone know what this means or if it is a cause for concern? Thanks

I googled it and this odd little item from the New York Times in 1904 was all I found, other than stuff relating to pregnancy and spotting.

How long was it between the poke and you noticing it was brown? I suppose you do realize that all blood turns brown as it dries?

Older blood becomes brownish. There were times when I felt my blood looked extremely dark red, sometimes brownish. But not anymore.

If it is always brownish when you fist prick your finger, you may like to look at this website which claims the blood maybe missing a kind of a protein?!
