Well thought I would post a progress report, being four (4) weeks today since my surgery seems like I have made a GREAT recovery to this date!

I have surprised my loving wife Lauren (Nurse Betty :D ) and the rest of my family and friends, I seem to be quite different than most patients so I think.

I have had little if any set-backs, and pray to the lord above that none come my way.

Follow-up visit with surgeon yesterday was uneventful, with all restrictions lifted except for weight lifting (yah like I do that), I can drive, go back to work as I feel (will take next week off and return part time for a few weeks after so as not to push it), I am just very lucky.....!

I thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of my repaired heart for all the prayers and well wishes, you folks and VR are wonderful and I shall stay a member for years to come.

Harry

Harry,

Congratulations - it sounds like you are coming along very well. I highly recommend continuing to walk or do other mild exercise daily; do more as you feel up to it. It will help with your energy levels and the little aches that naturally come with the healing sternum over the next couple of months.

Good luck to you - we hope you'll continue to hang out with us here.

Great news, Harry, and a wonderful post for those In Waiting. Yes, it really does go quite well for some of us, and we never seem to know who it will be.

To what does "Nurse Betty" ascribe your rapid, uneventful recovery? My wife claims I'm "just too ornery" to be affected by mere heart surgery...

I'm very happy for you, Harry. May things continue this well for you.

Best wishes.

Congrats Harry!

This is one time where being "unremarkable" is a good thing. :D Whatever you are doing keep it up!

Harry, I'm so glad to hear your doing so well after your surgery. :D Going back to work part-time is probably a good idea.

I hope everything stays well for you and I'm so glad to hear your surgeons visit went so well. :) I know its a great feeling to get those 'good' test results back from the doc.. :D

Good Luck

Harry, what wonderful news. :D :D I pray that you continue to just get better and better. I'm eleven weeks out and every day is a lot better. I did have some set backs but I made it through them with flying colors.

Please still remember not to overdo or you'll pay for it the next day. :( :(

It's always great to hear such good news, Harry. Keep up the good work and give your nurse some TLC.

Excellent!!

Excellent!!

Great going, Harry! Yes!! Those of us in waiting want to hear all the good stories over and over!!

Truly am pleased that it has all gone so well for you. Congratulations!

Hi Harry,

Great to see you doing so well so soon out of surgery. Love it!

Great Recovery

Great Recovery

Four weeks to driving. That's great! I got behind the wheel at 5 weeks, 6 days. My wife wouldn't let me do it earlier, but I think she relented at the 5/6 point to avoid any more of my backseat driving! Keep that positive attitude -- it does make a difference. I'm still looking forward to the day when I'm allowed to legally lift more than ten pounds (I think I've exceeded that on a few occasions). Did you have minimally invasive AVR? My chest is still tender, but bearable now. So glad I went with the MIAVR -- seems like the recovery is much quicker.

GREAT NEWS Harry ! :) :) :)

I'd still recommend Cardiac Rehab if your insurance will cover it. The 'arm cycle' machines are great for loosening up tight chest / shoulder / back muscles and improving flexibility.

The aerobic exercises will help improve your overall condition and stamina while being monitored for heart rate and possible arrhythmias.

Life goes on !
