How long does it take to come round from anaesthetic ?

I was in surgery at about 7am and under shortly after. I woke up briefly about 5 pm, then in and out all night. I was fully conscious in the morning, and they moved me to the ward. I was out of the hospital about 6 days later, and back at work three weeks after that.

    CoaguChek XS newbie

Thanks Doug, I tried it one last time for the day, and voila, I got it working. I got an INR of 2.6 which is good as my range is 2.5 to 3.5. I am going to get it done at the Lab first of next week, and do a home test at the same time to compare. My INR has been all over the map, with very...

    CoaguChek XS newbie

Please ignore the previous post about the SoftClix. I sorted it out and got it working....but... It breaks the skin, but just barely, even set to its deepest. So I get little blood. I have followed the directions exactly as they say in the book, and on their website. But to no avail. So far...

Any Post Valve Surgery Hospital Stay Tips?

I took a sport jacket, a comfortable pair of pants and dress shoes. And put them on every time I went for my walk, even if I was just going down the hall. I agree with SkiGirl, I was NOT sick and did not want anyone, including myself, to think I was. I did not sleep much at all, so often I would...

    SoftClix not working?

Hello, I just got a CoaguChex XS and I am trying to sort it out. My SoftClix is not working as it should. I load it correctly, but the needle will not come out of of it far enough, no matter what setting I use, to break the skin. Ideas? Thanks, Rocky

Looking for advice on Tissue V Mechanical valve

I chose the mechanical valve. I did not want to face surgery again in my mid 70's and felt that warfarin was the lesser of two evils. I do everything I did before. I enjoy a drink now and then, ride my bicycle, ride my motorcycle and will start skiing again next year. I am not going to take up...

    Tiredness 9 months after surgery

It isn't possible to have something so invasive as OHS without the body, and the mind, reacting to it. I had my surgery just over a year ago and I still get tired in the afternoon. I sometimes have very short cat naps, say 10 minutes, a few times a day. And I am very active. (I was back at...

    First night after surgery.....

It was not the first day, but it was the second day where I got dressed and went for a walk around the floor. I was up and walking a bit on the first day mostly because I refused to use the bedpan. On the fourth day I decided to go for an adventure and went off the ward to see what the rest of...

    First night after surgery.....

It was mostly a blur. Awake for a bit, then back asleep. Not much pain, the drugs take care of that. There was a nurse with me the entire time. My daughter visited me during that first day and night several times, and when I told her I remembered little, she said that was a good thing. Surgery...

    One year

It will be one year tomorrow that I went in for my meet and greet at the hospital, and on Wednesday it will be one year since the surgery. It has been an interesting year to say the least. I had one trip to the hospital in the first week i was home due to a high beats per minute, two TIA's in...

    Extreme Hot sweats/Cold Post-Op - HELP!

Nice to hear. Recovery takes time. It has been almost a year for me, and I still feel the effects of the surgery. But it lessens over time.

    Newbie bav with severe stenosis

Symptoms can be deceiving. My BAV was about .50 cm Doppler which was in the critical range ( Severe is less than 1.0 and Critical is less than .6) and the only symptoms I experienced where slight shortage of breath and slight light-headedness and a bit of coughing. From the time time I went into...

40 years of clicking and ticking

That is a great story. Now if I can get 40 years out of mine, that puts me at 99 years old. I wonder if it is to much to hope for 41 years?
