    New to BAV

I agree strongly. Due to my initial anxiety, I found myself ruminating over my first appointment afterwards. It was helpful to have someone who was there with me to interpret and to remember everything the doctor had said and alleviate my fears. Maintaining a personal file--also a great idea...

    Who wants to live forever

I went through a personal crisis this summer after being diagnosed with BAV and informed of a future surgery--though it remains a decade or so away. I'm 22 and a recent college graduate so it made my transition to "real life" slightly more difficult *laughs*. I can't imagine yet the existential...

Consequences of low heart rate (bradycardia)

I'm 22 and have a pulse in the mid 50s; have had it at least since 2 years ago at least (can't remember past then.) Found out over the summer when I found my BAV that it drops down to high 30s while sleeping. I have had occular migraines with aura since I was in junior high and have recently...

I need a great Cardiologist in the Chicago area:

I personally don't know much, but check the thread below out; there are plenty of people here from Chicago that I've noticed in browsing. http://valvereplacement.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29698&highlight=northwestern BAVD John is from Chicago and had McCarthy at Northwestern as his surgeon...

    muscle pain from statins use

They cut my LDL in half :) Anyways, I need to really watch my cholesterol and I was wondering about CQ10 and C 500mg, what are they exactly and do they seem to help?

    It's Aug 26th and I'm 4 weeks post op :)

It's good to hear your doing well. Keep up the recovery! It can be difficult for those of us watching the cubs without recently having had major surgery :)

    A Noobie Veteran...

Matski, Well wishes right back to you. You've been through a lot, but you have a perspective that says a lot about you. Some people go through life not having an understanding of what is really important, and I think that you've got things figured out. On an unrelated note, I was interested...

    My Weekend Project

Matski, You're quite a guy! It's awesome that your customizing your kids rooms; I wish that I could have had something that cool growing up (I was also fascinated by military history as a kid, so it would have been doubly cool) Good luck putting it together.

    A Newbie

Thank you Kathy! Thank you so much for the compliments. I'm hoping it will be awhile, only time will tell. As far as the diagnosis; despite the unforutnate cirsumstances, I think that it has fostered some positive developments in my character as far as thinking about the "bigger picture."

    Not your Typical BAV...

That's a good point, I noticed the same correlation. My cardio explained to me that I was "lucky" not to have aortic stenosis. I forgot the exact phrase she used, but it seemed that aortic stenosis and BAV were interrelated more often than not; at least that's the impression I got. I was...
