    White-collar pre-employment health check

I’m in excellent health and I don’t have any side effects after an aortic valve replacement surgery that I underwent in 2007. After a second interview for a job I will be required to have a pre-employment health check. Could I be denied employment because of my aortic valve prosthesis? Did this...

    neck and shoulder pain

Try to sleep without a pillow, just on your mattress. At the beginning it will be painful, but for me this helped. Later you could try to lay on your back on the floor, maybe with someone’s help.

    Happy to be here again.

Hi Bina. I take Metoprolol. I hope it will work too. My surgeon described the surgery as a wery good one. I spent at the ICU only 24 hours (the shortest time possible.) Except the fast hearth rate and a small fever (that seems to come from the surgery site) I'm fine. Regards, gdfd

    Happy to be here again.

Hi all. I'm back home. I had my AV replaced with a Carbomedics mechanical one and my ascending aorta replaced too with a Dacron graft. The surgery was performed at the Montreal General Hospital by dr. Christo I. Tchervenkov. My problem is my heart rate that is still around 100, two weeks after...

    double vision

I didn’t undergo any surgery yet, but I also had double vision problems. When this occurred, the image from one eye was superposed to the image of the second eye, but the superposition wasn’t perfect. One of the images was shifted. Those episodes lasted for under two minutes, and my fix was to...

    Mechanical vs my own

Hello all, I agree that having the surgery as fast as possible is the best idea. As I said I will have mine in October this year. As many of you suggested is always wise to have a plan B if the plan A is to keep in place the original valve. My surgeon said that, if I ask him to consider the...

    Mechanical vs my own

Hello all. Few days ago I met my surgeon and it seems that my surgery will be scheduled sometime in October. He told me that my own aortic valve (bicuspid with mild stenosis and mild regurgitation) seems to be in a good enough shape to be left in place (no repair necessary). However the...
