Thanks to everyone who has responded - I am overwhelmed with the positive responses! Where else could I go to get such informed responses too!! (besides the doctors maybe). I will check with the surgeon and YES I am one of these people who always buys travel insurance (and never uses it) plus I have some coverage from work.
I guess I have been thinking that I will feel worse daily, but I think I am reading that it isn't necessarily so which is reassuring.
Thanks to all of you again and the trip is ON unless the surgeon tells me otherwise.:)

Dale I would go!!!!!!!!!!! Think how special and meaningful it would be.. Just keep things simple.. relax on cruise LOL Just No wild partying or late night romps !!!!!!!

As everyone said - it would be a nice diversion to be on the cruise. Having said that, I was to have been on vacation last December 15 for 3 weeks in the Caribbean, but was told by my cardio that I wasn't allowed to travel both from his stand point and depending on my insurance coverage that too. Instead I met with the surgeon on December 18 and then had my 2 valves repaired January 3, 2008.

Hopefully you will get the OK to travel.

Dale, I hope that it works out for you.....evaluate how you are feeling and then factor in some excitement and possibly occasional lack of sleep on the cruise. Maybe you can bring along a low dose of Ativan for the times when you need to calm down or have a nap.
Oh yah, no boozing, and no all-nighters either! LOL
