Glad my kids never got into this crap.

Some years back Sherry and I were on vacation, somewhere along the coast ? Maryland I think ? We were having lunch in a local crab shack, just chilling and having a few beers ? across the way from us was a young couple eating lunch that look very much like these two, just add color ? We were looking at our road atlas and trying to decide the best way to get to where we were wanting to go (don?t even remember where) and the guy was coming back from the restroom and asked if we needed help or if we were lost ? I was a bit taken aback by his smile and friendly tone ? A very long story made short ? we ended up pushing our tables together and spending about two hours yakking and eating ? They were grad students ? I think physics or something that was way over my head ? I offered to buy them a beer (I ended up paying for lunch, my pleasure) but they declined ? neither drank, smoked or did any type of recreational substance ? here we were two old farts sitting with these two young ?freaks? and having the time of our life? they looked the type that made you uneasy, want to cross the street to avoid them ? I often think of that day when I find myself making a quick judgment on visual appearances ? a valuable lesson that to often needs to be refreshed in my mind ?. They turned out to be sheep in Chimps clothing:p

The hair, make-up, leather, and jewellery, don't concern me at all.....it's considered art to many; but the body piercings that border on self-mutilation are what I always find disturbing. ouch, ouch, ouch!

I personally draw the line at ?some? piercing ? although I did get an ear pierced (closed up now) and bought a very expensive guitar one lost weekend years ago:cool: ? Kids, go figure:p

They remind me of the joke about the old man sitting on a bench in the shopping mall. This kid with spiked, colored hair walks up to him and says, "Whatcha lookin at old man" and the old man replies, "I once made love to a peacock and I wondered if you were my son."

Yes, there is some "mystique" to the piercings thing. I have piercings that I did for myself a while back. That freaks people out when I tell them. :DI also have one tattoo, but that was done professionally.

The "ouch" thing, of course, runs along a pain-pleasure continum for some of us. I also think it's a little funny to say "ouch" here over a toungue stud or a nipple ring given the heavy duty invasive stuff that we deal with.:)

I was doing some medical research online the other day and I was amazed at how many young people put up videos on YouTube of PIC insertions and removals. There is something a little unusual going on there, I think.
