Hello everyone,

My name is Eva. I am new to the forum and so happy to have found it. I wish I found it a long time ago while I was living a torturing dillema since March, but 'better late than never' as the chats I had this morning with a few wonderful 'angels' who were in the chatroom were very helpful! Thanks again to them.

I am 57 and I was considering bovine valve in order to avoid a blood thinner until two days ago. But after talking to some on this forum, I am going back to what my surgeon and some relative recommended when I first saw my surgeon; that is the St. Jude Mechanical valve since my fears of coumadin have been calmed down and to be on it is much better than being reopened in the future.

Please pray for me on the 2nd of September. God bless and thanks in advance.

Eva

My prayers are with you Eva! Soon it will be all over with & you can resume your life better than before!

Hang in there & if you have any more questions, just start posting away. We'll be listening & we'll do the best we can to soothe your fears!

Rest easy my friend! :)

Good luck Eva. I can assure you that waiting for surgery is worse than the actual surgery, at least in my opinion. I just had Aortic valve replacement on the 6th of August. I can sit an listen to the mechanical click of my ON-X valve. So far, coumadin is not so bad, I also take lopressor and lisinopril. I a 37 and never took more than an aspirin so I am getting used to daily drugs. Not so bad though, this side of the dirt looks so much nicer.

Thanks for your encouragement. I hope my recovery will be quick as I am an energetic person and I hate being bed-ridden. Good luck with your ON-X. I heard lots of good things about it. Eva

You can read about it for yourself on www.heartvalvechoice.com and www.onxvalves.com

If/when I go again, my first choice is On-X with St. Jude Masters Series as the Backup Plan.

Good for you Eva .... remember that your doctor and surgeon know you and your needs.... this is a great place for information nd support but your doctors are your first line of care ... I'm sure all will go well:)

That was my plan going in. ON-X as 1st choice, if it wouldn't fit, then the St. Judes would be 2nd choice. Luckily I got my 1st choice.

Eva,
You've come to the right place. Welcome!!!
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Soon you'll be telling us your OHS story.
I pray your recovery goes speedy and smooth.

God Bless

Welcome, Eva

Welcome, Eva

You really are in the right place. The people who write on this site are wonderful angels. Most of us have been where you are now. Waiting for our surgery. Some are in the waiting room with you. I had a valve repair 3 years ago and found this site about 2 weeks after I got home. I wish someone had told me about VR before my surgery but better late than never.
I will be away on vacation next week so I want to wish you luck and know you will be in my prayers.

Eva i'd like to welcome you and all the best for Sept2nd
We've been there and know your anxieties for sure.
my 2nd surgery is in the distance also, and still even the fear
of the unknown 16 years ago my 1st surgery falls into the fear
of the known now....so we are all the same and wouldn't be
normal if we didn't worry.

I will be thinking and sending out prayers :)
