*chuckles*

I guess "Irony rocks" isn't my only one.... I see some have posted a few others that I also utilize every now'n'then, most notably, "This, too, shall pass."

*sighs*

I suppose I could think of others, too ... but, don't want to take away anyone's contribution ;).

Gina,
Glad you clarified that ... I was a bit worried when I read the first sentence of your post ... he he!

Nancy,
Don't think I will EVER forget yours ... "Never give in and never give up".

Karlynn,
I love yours ... he he. I can just about see the look on your face when you queried them that ;).

Hensylee,
That was one of Gram's favorite sayings ... so, "Bless your heart".

"Wake me up inside" ... Evanescence ... 'Bring Me To Life'

This is an interesting thread. I use, and have used, many in my life....here are a few:

1. You don't have to go to every fight you are invited to.

2. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

3. "endure"

4. This too, shall pass.

5. The Serenity prayer...." God, grant me the serenity accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." - St. Francis

My "personal" mantra is "Things happen for a reason"

My "work" mantra is "The best of the past will never be good enough again"

My "evil twin" mantra is "You're never even until you're one up" ;)

My grandpa useta say:

"Live `n` Learn, Die `n` Forgit"

Also bard from Bill Cosby when my kids wanted ta CHALLENGE my authority:

"I brung yew inta dis world, I can tekk yew out"

It usually meant mow if`n yew happened ta be holding a baseball bat (or tar tool) in yore hand at da time. :p :D

Ah, yes ... I have this one on a couple plaques ... one given to me by Gram and Gramps ... and one that they used to have hanging in their living room.

And, Bubba ... loved that line from The Cosby Show ... he he :).

"It's time to take a leap of faith" ... Steven Curtis Chapman ... 'Dive'

These two have gotten me through some tough times:

-- If you aren't happy with what you have, be grateful for what you have escaped. (Ann Landers, I think)

-- Never give up -- don't let the #$%^ win. (My favorite picture of this is attached.)

This one has been added recently:

-- Don't cry because it's over, laugh because it happened.

And when I'm having trouble with my computer or other "thing":

-- I will NOT let an inanimate object defeat me!

-- A former columnist for the Washington Post used to write about the Perversity Of Inanimate Objects, so sometimes just saying POIO (poe-e-oh) works too.

Not particularly a mantra but certainly one I find myself saying a lot:

"Life's short - eat dessert first".;) :D ;)

Even though it wasn't specifically said, this certainly was the theme during my best friend's Memorial service in December 1987. It was most-definitely a celebration.

Likewise for Gram's funeral in October 2002 ... and Gramps' service in December 2005.

And Gina ... dessert first sounds wonderful to me ;).
