How much do these foods really mess with INR? Turmeric is in everything, I don’t eat a ton of leafy greens so that’s probably not an issue.

Good thing I don’t like grapefruit! Any papers I can read up on turmeric?
I've not done much in a long time on that, but make sure you use scholar.google.com and use keywords like:
tumeric dose INR interference

then look how much you have to eat and ask honestly "will I really eat that much each sitting, day in, day out"?

All research is about getting funded to do it, published, then hopefully cited; decreasingly is it about actual pertinence in a clinical setting.

Last I looked that ratio was making my arse bleed just thinking about how much that was that I had to eat.

Every Indian who's ever posted and been "worried" here has come back to say "it was a nothingburger"

Best Wishes

just some guidance.

Beware of the word may. I may become a millionaire overnight on the lottery (probably I won't). Also raises the risk: if the risk was miniscule to near zero and we double that it remains 'miniscule to near zero'

Stuff to avoid because its alarmist fluff:

Stuff worth reading (but requires thinking)

Thanks for the quick replies! Based on my quick 20 minute research it seems like the fear was because turmeric has a chemical in it that has anticoagulant effects, but the amount is so small that you’d honestly probably never have an issue just because of diet.

to me the problems would come from people taking supplements and one just doesn't know exactly what you're getting in that.

I prefer to eat food that I buy that's not processed and prepare and eat that.
Salads, olives, fresh bread, meat, eggs, vegetables and fetta cheese.

PS: I'm just eating lunch

was doing some small light reading about tumeric. curcumin, which is one of the main components of tumeric, is not readily absorbed by the body as it dissolves more readily in fat versus water.

one of the reasons why papers suggest tumeric messes with your INR/ blood “coagulancy”, is perhaps due to the fact they do “clinical” tests with it, hence working with very high dosages or ones that have been chemically tweaked to be readily absorbed by the body.

i myself have started on a plant based diet and have successfully managed to do so with just little tweaking to my warfarin dosage.

what is more concerning is my slightly drier skin, potentially related to vitamin deficiencies due to the new diet, but i am veering off-topic.
