Help Support ValveReplacement.org:

Hey Keith.

I have talked to the Cleveland Clinic and they all my info and awaiting a call from Autumn. Since my last message I have had an echo and went from 1.1 to .8. So its time. As a backup I have an appointment with Emory Dr. Babaliaros later in June. Thanks for all the info.. If your ever up Roswell/Woodstock area let me know, Dinner on me!!
I had open heart surgery in October 2016, to replace a bicuspid heart valve...I had severe aortic valve insufficiency & mild to moderate aortic valve stenosis; it was replaced with an OnX mechanical heart valve.
I was pretty much symptom free post surgery until I experienced 2 major GI bleeds (December 2018 & again December 2019).
Anyone else have any GI bleeding requiring hospitalization?

interesting, always good to see innovation in the market. However I belive that its always going to be a small market because
  1. more alternatives (more expensive albeit) are coming on line for non valvers
  2. more OHS is being done with tissue prosthetics and younger Valve Replacement patients were always in the minority anyway.
So far I have nothing but good words for my Roche
:)
lookin to learn about my impending Aortic valve replacement (MINI AVR) surgery

You are getting a MIMI! How come?

I'lll bet a MIMI is French, no? Im getting a MINI mostly because they wont crack my ribs open but I'll also spend less time in surgery, recovery and in the hospital.

I had AVR through mini-sternotomy, is that the same thing I wonder?
Tinsley -- if you're in the U.K., the meter that I have won't be right for you. I don't know if you can get Coag-Sense strips in the U.K. and your medical system seems to have standardized on the CoaguChek XS and a newer version.

If,OTOH, you're in Massachusetts, my Coag-Sense would be a pretty good choice.

Oh right I didn’t even know any of that thank you anyway tho means a lot
I had surgery on January 7, 2020. At CPMC Van Ness in San Francisco, California, Dr. Glenn Egrie replaced my leaky aortic valve with a St. Jude Regent 23mm mechanical valve. My surgery seems to have gone well, and I returned home for my recovery on Saturday, January 11th. My family and friends have been very supportive during my surgery and recovery, and I'm grateful to them.

I'm also grateful to this community, valvereplacement.org, for the knowledge, wisdom, and support its members provide those going through pre-surgery, surgery, and its aftermath.

Hey Superbob! Thanks for checking up 😊 I’m going great. For some reason, ever since Hank started talking about shutting down the site way back when, I haven’t felt inclined to pop in. I have no idea why. But I will try to check in on Staying the Course more often 🥰

Scheduled for Jan. 7, 2020 aortic valve surgery: either repair or replacement with mechanical valve -- not determined yet.
I was hospitalized 2xs past 2 months for afib. 2echos at 2 diff hospitals showed aortic diameter at 5,4. I am looking for BSA calculator that use to be in this forum, I also have BAV VSD ASD and have had 2 coarc repairs in past. I see a surgeon this week but would like to have as much info as possible before appt. CT will be done at this appt.
My husband is 32 and needs his mitral valve repaired. He was also born with pectus excavatum that needs fixed as well. An otherwise completely healthy and extremely active individual, is now faced with OHS.
Surgeon & Hospital Shopping- Has anyone here gone with Dr Castro (Sequoia Hospital) or Dr Veeragandham (John Muir Hospital) for their AVR?

Also looking at the Edward’s Inspiris valve model for my aorta valve replacement. Anybody have this model & feelings about it?

Thanks!
I hope you are doing well. I am currently deciding between a repair of my bicuspid aortic valve and the Ozaki procedure. I am very interested in what your thoughts on the Ozaki Procedure are post-op. Thanks.
Updated - surgery scheduled for March 4, 2020/Cleveland Clinic/Lars Svensson. BAV/composite root graft/ascending aorta.Bicuspid/aneurism.

I see you made it through, Bravo!!!
Why did you closed the board for sharing stories of beginnings. It would help people learning about how people learned about the heart problems and other health issues and why they chose to come to the Valvereplacement.org. I think it is nice to introduce ourselves and sharing the stories.
