I have just been reading the report from a microbiologist regarding my clinical negligence case. In one part he commented that during my OHS the surgeon noted that I have a tricuspic aortic valve and the microbiologist then said that the normal aortic valve is bicuspic! Now am I glad he didn't chose cardiac surgery or even cardiology as a specialty! :)

Kind of reminds me of Dick's first echo and visit after surgery to the local cardiologist- the echo read that his mechanical valve was well-seated (not, it's tissue) and when the doctor walked in the room, he asked Dick how he was doing on Coumadin. Now you know why we went to Boston and use him only for well- check-ups, and in case of emergency.

I contacted my lawyer and told her that I spotted a big boo boo and gave her a web link to show that I was in fact normal. The case is likely to fold anyway as he and a cardiology specialist cannot say for certain that my endocarditis was indeed caused by the lithotripsy - even though I know it was. Proving it it virtually impossible especially as the bacteria wasn't isolated. It looks as if the urologist could be let off the hook despite a urology specialist saying that my care was not satisfactory.

Not only did an early test - before surgery - come back saying that they had found a replacement valve (they were apparently reading in my file about what was going to be done to me), but the doctor was from the City (NYC). His accent was so thick that when he called it a "prosthetic valve," they transcribed it as a "prostatic valve."

Now THAT would be painful...

Best wishes,
