It has been quite a long time since I have been here (last post was in 2014 according to my profile info). I recently started getting these daily posting summaries by email from VR so I thought I would stop by to check things out. Deja vu on the one hand, but lots of changes as well. Nice to see some familiar names. Interesting to see my name is #16 on the most messages list after all this time. I must have been a real blabber mouth back when I uses to be a regular here. Nothing much has changed at my end. My Mitral Valve Repair still passes its annual check by my Cardio so all is well at that front. Lots of other medical issues though (sometimes getting older can really suck). Anyway, I just thought I would stop by to say "hi". Cheers all.

Hi Wayne!
It is nice to see all the familiar names popping up.
I plan to make my re-emergence more consistent and I hope all those who are popping back in for a look around will, too. It makes for a great community.
I hear ya on the getting older thing....oh..... my darn knees 😖.
Take care!
Marguerite

Great to see you pop in Marguerite. Hope all is going well with you newer valve and life!

This daily summary of activity on VR also brought me out of the woodwork! Ten years, this year, since AVR with a bovine valve. Latest 6 monthly checkup in April showed all is still fine. I vividly recall the support my, then, 13 year old daughter received from members of the VR community when she posted how distressed she was seeing me in ICU with all the wires and tubes etc. ..Yes we get older with all the issues that come with that....

Hey Wayne...was almost in your world as used to live in Burlington,ON ( Wayne's world...couldn't help myself....sorry 😉.) Moved from ON to NS a year ago and coming up on 5th anniversary for OHS. Bovine and I am still moo-ving . A few issues but that's for another thread so as not to hijack yours.

Here's to shared experiences, encouragement and humour with new and maybe some familiar "faces".

Cheers!

I started getting the daily postings too, and I’ve been browsing forums. Thanks Wayne for starting this thread as it’s the first time I’ve come across so many alumni from my scary OHS days in January 2009. Since then my husband, his brother and my cousin have all had their BAVs replaced in Canada too. We are all doing well.
I’m grateful for every day!

Hi Ottagal, I’ve thought about you and have wondered how you are doing. I still have a phone number for you but it may have changed. I have a learn how to negotiate the site, but I think I can message you. I hope you are doing well too.

WAYNE-----You must have received my psychic message. A few weeks ago my hubby and I were having a conversation and
we were talking about one his friends buying a bike in Toronto, and I got to thinking, "Hey, I wonder what ever happened to Wayne?"
Good to hear from you !
Nice to here from you, too. It has been awhile but glad to see you are still posting here. Like I said...Deja vu. My biking days are long gone now. … a victim of a careless driver who failed to stop at her red light and rammed me as I was rightfully going through the intersection. My wife finally got the call she had been dreading for over 30 years. Oh well … c'est la vie.

I am still here....that`s the main thing. I have not worked since the accident (2009), but my employer never expected me to come back. So we live the retirement lifestyle although technically I do not actually retire until later this year (when I turn 65). On the positive side, I get the good parking spaces (and in most cities the municipal parking lots waive the parking fees) and when I travel I always get to by-pass most of the line ups. Life is good. We`ve just had to adjust our lifestyle a bit.
