No one has started a new thread this week -- tsk, tsk! First, the sad anniversary of 9/11, the horrendous attack on our nation and its people. Hard to believe it's been 17 years now. Never forget!

Second, there is a Category 4 hurricane aiming at the Carolina coast right now. Latest track makes landfall in NC, about 100 miles north of us. That would hit us with wind and rain possibly equivalent to Matthew a couple of years ago. That one was scary, but we came through it unscathed. We are NOT in a mandatory evacuation zone -- that's for those in storm surge zone just east of us. We are about 5 miles inland. For now we are prepping to stay in place. But if track shifts and we have a Cat 4 or Cat 5 coming right at us, we have a concrete-encased building a few miles away to which to retreat. We still could decide to drive to the mountains tomorrow morning -- but take a look at The Weather Channel -- some of those inland spots could get rain of 20 or 30 inches. We were living in mountains in Virginia in 1969 when remnants of Hurricane Camille dropped 32 inches of rain in one night and and washed whole families away not very far from us.

So yep it was good to get by the biopsy.... on to the next things.

And you all -- Honeybunny! -- seem to have tricked me into starting a new week again.

Stay the course!

:) Good to see you back Superbob and appreciate any and all who keep this going as we stay on course.

Saw my pcp today and my hemoglobin has topped 13 now at 13.1. I think I feel better now than since my FIRST ohs back in 2012. Best news of all, next appointment in SIX months. I am so thankful, to say the least. Two quick check ins with the specialists in October and expect to be finally free.

I have learned a lot in the last year. First of all I see others post on the great care they receive free from their countries and I have to tout ours now in saying that we truly have some great physicians and surgeons in our country also. I have also learned that on my own I could not have made it through what I just went through. I have had several bleeds that led me close to death, blood pressure so low my whole family cried, a blood specialist that told me I have zero iron stores in my body, and probably worst of all for me was my inability to breathe. With the help of prayers and friends praying for me( both in person and online) I have been able to come full circle and feel like myself again.

Superbob will be thinking of you and watching weather channel. I pray you and yours are safe through this. Please update when you can. Will be waiting.

On this anniversary of 9-11 I want to join others in saying we will never forget. :,(

Bob, I knew the biopsy would be normal. I could feel it in my waters. Welcome back.

Mrs Winter good to hear you are doing well. You might have said this elsewhere, but why is your haemoglobin low?

I remember 9/11 (I'm in Australia). I was asleep and my brother in law rang us. 'Turn on the TV there's a war in America' I was half asleep and had no idea what he was talking about. My wife turned on the TV and there it was.

Agian, Prior to both my valve replacements I had no health problems to speak of. Following valve replacement I also had balloons and stints for blockages. MY feelings are that once my lines were all cleared my body just could not handle it (blood flowing with gusto). Doctors found that I have PBC. It is an autoimmune disease of the liver but it was pretty much dormant until surgeries. I had so much pressure, both upper and lower body that the blood was re routing itself all over. This caused varices (like varicose veins) first in my throat and then in the stomach. These all bled and even with banding the pressure was causing more to form and bleed. Ultimately they drilled a hole in my liver and put a shunt in to relieve the pressure. That was all it took. All is well and recovering nicely. Bad news is I have a bad liver (non alcoholic in case anyone is judging ) PLUS two heart surgeries so I will never make the transplant list. My liver continues to work but not as good as most healthy people.

Sooo hemoglobin a lovely 13.1 today. INR is therapeutic at 1.8. Blood pressure good and doc listened to my heart and valve, just laughed saying how good it sounds.

welcome back Bob

i enjoy your posts

best of luck with the hurricane, i'll keep a watch on the UK tv News

I remember walking into work after a breakfast meeting and being told someone flew a plane into the World Trade Center. My first thought was, “How does a person accidentally hit a building?” Then I heard the actunews report. Shocking day. No work got done. Just followed the news all day.

None of my kids were alive then, but our oldest was on the way. Really changed our views of the world and how safe we felt anywhere.

Unrelated, but relevant to my course. Broke 30 minutes on my 5k split today at 29:56 with 4 miles in 39:15. Getting stronger!

Glad to hear you are as prepared as you can be for the storm SB. I hope it decreases in strength before it hits land. The worrisome part is the anticipated stall, which will bring on flooding. That's what happened with Harvey; little wind damge but the dang thing stuck around for days resulting in 50 inches of rain. Please keep us posted.

The think I remember about 9/11 was the eerily quiet sky in the days following as flights were cancelled all over the country. My daughter had become a Southwest flight attendant that March, so I didn't want her in the air. That was also the day I went to court to probate my husband's will. When my lawyer saw how quiet I was, she attributed it to being nervous about the probate. How clueless!

jwinter, hang in there. I read your (and others) stories and feel grateful for my good health. Bless you.

Staying the course and am down to 151.8 lbs two days in a row. PCP appointment tomorrow and I think she will check my A1C. I'll post the numbers afterward.
