Any one here get the Shingrix vaccine on Coumadin? My INR was 2.6-3.1 and I got the vaccine a week ago and noticed besides the crappy side effects that my INR has dropped to 2.2 and even after slightly increasing my does still is only 2.3. Still easily in my range, but I like to see my INR at least at 2.5. I have tested 3 times in last week (2 days after each dose change) to see if I can bump it back to 2.5. Yes I understand INR will fluctuate and yes I am very anal, but my diet is extremely consistent, especially around vitamin K. I know Shingrix has some side effects (head aches, flu like symptoms, etc) which my wife and I both experienced for 2-3 days.

Hi,

I have had both of the shots, and I test once weekly. There were no abnormal swings in my INR test results. One thing however, I received the second shot early evening, and woke up the next morning in A-Fib. I have not been in A-Fib once since my Ablation 4 years ago, until then. Note: The A-fib incident lasted 15 hours, and haven't had it since. I researched the drug and found that one of the possible side effects is an elevated heart rate when first administered.

This Shingrix is only vaccine I have ever had that had such nasty side effects. They say 25% of people that get it will have side effects. I will see what happens with INR, could be coincidence. Just seems odd the sudden drop and stayed there even after 5 days of a mild increase in warfarin.

my view is that you need to transcend beyond being anal to being directed and rigourous. Several experiments (month long) done by me over the years have shown that being extreeeemly consistent (around both not having any and having a regular (perhaps overly healthy) level of greens made no identifiable difference to my INR fluctuations.

I recommend you conduct similar trials (note plural) and do so over lengthy periods (like month or two).

Keep detailed notes and make sure you can compare those notes an an analytical manner.

fundamentally everything which has an interaction with warfarin is something which shares its P450 metablolism (disposal) pathway, I would doubt that there is anything of significance in the carrier for the attenuated (read dead) components of virus which are given to you to assist your immune system to recognise and become more active in producing the right lymphocytes to attack and destroy said virus.
