So, aside from Labguide's daughter, does anyone else have any first-hand experience with this?

twinmaker said:Christian, I had two pregnancies after a mitral valve repair. I had a mitral commissurotomy in Sept. 1974, and became pregnant in the summer of 1975. I had an uneventful pregnancy and delivered a full-term daughter in March 1976. I was followed weekly by my OB just to be on the safe side as I had lost twins in 1973 before my mitral repair. I then delivered twin boys in August 1978. I developed atrial fibrillation during this pregnancy and was restricted during my last four months of pregnancy. I didn't have to stay in bed, but the cardio said I wasn't even allowed to sweep the floor. Of course, we had a two year old which kept me busy, but she was a really good toddler and could occupy herself on the floor with any toy while I laid on the sofa. By the way, our second set of twins were born only two weeks early and were very healthy...6lbs.6ozs. and 5lbs.12ozs. Even with that, I only gained 27 pounds with the twin pregnancy and 19 pounds with our daughter. I'm sure that helped where my heart was concerned. I can't recall what heart meds. I was on at the time, though. Congratulations to you both! Keep us informed on how your wife is doing. LINDA
