The only problem I had with splitting warfarin pills was a strange one -- I used to do it over the floor in a bathroom -- minuscule pieces made it onto the floor.

My dog's feet would pick up that tiny amount, then lick their feet -- this was enough to raise their INR -- I didn't run a test on them but, if I recall correctly, there was a very brief session with blood in the urine,

A pill cutter may help to avoid this.

I have used a pill cutter since 2001. Many times the doctor will not give a script for a lower dose. Pill cutter has been fine for me for years.

I get mine at the drug store, usually one for a dollar or two.
