Greetings all. New member here. 61 year old male recently diagnosed w/ mitral valve prolapse, requires OH repair. Any suggestions for reputable surgeons in NY City area would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! I had my surgery at Yale with Dr. Elefteriades. So did my sister. Amazing. Can't say enough. Excellent surgeon and fabulous bedside manner, and very caring. He saved my sister's life.
I am in the waiting room for mitral repair or replacement and from what I've seen, you may benefit greatly from going to a Center of Excellence for mitral repair specifically that has an interdiscipinary intervention team and technology specific to mitral repair. Some kinds of mitral prolapse defects have awesome success rates. (Not my type, sad to say!) So don't just think only of the surgeon but quality standards at the facility and the whole team. I'd think you have some good choices in NYC. Sinai??
