Health insurance -- grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I do NOT understand how a pre-exisiting condition, which thanks to a talented surgeon, no longer exists is still considered pre-exisiting.

We just discovered that our daughter's (age 27) health insurance is good only in CA.

I am convinced that insurance companies make insurance SO complicated that we cannot possibly understand it.

I hear you!!!

I spoke with several carriers and they said that after you have surgery it is easier to get coverage than before.

I'm sure California has a state health insurance risk pool. I checked into it here in Texas and it's pretty good coverage for a decent price.

I'm self employed and I hate the prospect of having to work for someone just to get health insurance.

You have a pre-extisting condition, heart problem. Although it was corrected with surgery, you are still a cardiac patient. I am still a cardiac patient, although I have a St. Jude's valve, I can still get again the heart murmur I was born with. It comes with the teritory. It harder to get coverage with some insurance comapnies because with bypass surgery, one become a risk with life insurance companies. So it is hard all around with any kind of insurance nowadays. There are those, when diagnosed with cancer, are dropped like a hot potato. So there it goes. Insurance is sometimes crappy. Good luck and keep us informed. Hang in there.
